Light a fire on the approach.
The Salewa Men's Wildfire Hiking Shoe has the light weight and assured traction that you need to move fast on the trail. This technical hiker creates a comfortable atmosphere for your foot when you're trekking over rocky scrambles, ridge traverses, and difficult terrain. Its mesh upper ventilates well in warm temperatures, and Salewa's Exa Shell works with the 3F system to stabilize your ankle and support your heel. The Pomoca Butylic sole has a climbing zone to give the traction necessary whether you're jumping between stones in the lake or making your descent back to the car.

Go-to approach shoe
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: 10.5
- Height: 6'0"
- Weight: 175lbs
This has definitely become my go-to approach shoe for any days I am heading out in the mountains to go climb. It handles talus amazingly- it doesnt collapse the way many approach shoes do when carrying a heavy pack, but also is light and nimble enough to not feel like you are wearing a big hiker. I liked the previous version, and this is a huge upgrade. In general I think this runs true to size, but if you are generally in between (for instance in between 10.5 or 11 like me) I would go with the smaller size (10.5).
