My first pairs of Salewa. Took this pairs to the test at Mount Agung in Bali, Indonesia. The steep trek to the summit had punishing mix of slippery soft sand, rocks, and boulders. The Wildfires really came to life on the rocks and boulder scrambles with their "sticky" soles. On the downside, I found myself slipping and sliding at times on the soft sands with minimal grip especially on the way down, but manageable. I probably will not use this for multi-day long hike as the feet really started feel the stress after 5 hours into the trek n this terrain - Probably need more time to break in as well. On less punishing terrains I am sure I can go longer. Overall, this was meant to be my go to shoes for day hikes and they performed as I have expected. Loving them.
First day of light trail running with the Wildfire Pro
How stiff are these compared to, say, the Garmont Dragontail?
I have a narrow foot. Do these shoes run narrow, wide or normal width?
Salewa shoes have a normal last (width). The Wildfire Pros definitely have a narrow profile and are meant for that happy medium between hiking shoe and approach shoe. Feel free to shoot me any additional questions on Salewa shoes directly.
