Most comfortable hiking boot I have ever worn. Wear them every day for work and they are holding up great.

Light weight waterproof boot

I like the light weight of this boot and after hiking in the rain for a full day my feet were still nice and dry. After reading the reviews that the boot runs small, I disagree. I went up a half size and the boot is too big for me (10.5 to 11). I solved it with some inserts to take up the volume. The heel cup was rubbing my feet on the back of the heal but perhaps this will pass with time as I break in the boot with more miles.

Work as claimed
Overall I’m very pleased with these shoes. I’m a walker and walk in all types of weather. We have some of the least desirable weather in the country in my area. I’ve walked for over an hour in pouring rain and my feet stayed dry as a bone with these shoes. In fact, I only wear these shoes in rainy weather. Wish they were a little wider.

Perfect, lightweight, and grippy
I purchased these flex mids for a recent hike in the Smoky Mountains near the Appalachian Trail. It was a 12 mile out and back with over 3000+ ft of elevation gain. The terrain ranged from curated to jagged and shaley. Lots of narrow and wet shale to negotiate and the grip on these performed beautifully (aided by trekking poles). That being said, I would probably limit hiking in these to shorter trips (9 miles max) and on less technical terrain as my feet were definitely feeling everything the last couple of miles. My Danner mids causes heel blisters on trails with lots of inclines, but the flex heel tech on these Salewas performed beautifully. Highly recommend for speed hiking, incline-heavy trails, slippery terrain, and 1-9 mile treks.

Nice Shoe
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I’m glad I went up a size. Toe box is narrow and up a size feels right. Time will tell if the quality is there.

Worst quality ever!
After a month of wearing the shoes already started to tear. Where the shoe folds on both sides. Shoes are also anything but waterproof. Now a year later they are completely torn through. Shouldn't be allowed for shoes in that price range. Contacted Salewa themselves and they told me to contact the store where I bought them. I think it's their shoes. They could then replace it as a service and arrange it themselves with that online store.

6month Review, worn in Lawn Care industry.
Bought these about six months ago the spots that quick fell apart are where the rubber comes down to a point. Sadly to the point now that its through 2 of the 3 layers. Forcing me to retire them before the season ends and go back to my old shoes. Everything else about thr shoe works good and even still has some tread left.

Great boot but very poor durability
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer

I love the fit, feel and comfort of hiking in these boots, but they are completely falling apart at the toe and on the upper of the shoe. These boots only lasted for about one and a half years of day hikes. I have been in contact with Salewa and hopefully they will be replacing it with a mid boot that has the upper material of their MS Mountain Trainer Lite GTX shoe. I also own the shoe and would highly reccomend it, but stay away from this one if you want any kind of longevity. Plus the toe tread that wraps around the front of the shoe started to peel away on both shoes. I wouldn't say I have "put it through the wringer" as asked on the questions by Backcountry but I had hiked once or twice weekly in the spring and fall months which it should have easily held up through. Again Salewa looks to be backing up their warranty though, which I am waiting to see on.

Overall, great boot

After owning a few pair of low cut Salewa hiking shoes, i went for GTX mid for a little more ankle support on my Colorado hikes. This is my 4th pair of Salewa's so I obviously like the brand. In short, they are quite comfortable and lightweight. Waterproofing is excellent. As with previous pairs, I have to buy a size up (I am a 12, but need a 13 in Salewa). They grip really well even in wet conditions. the only small complaint is the insoles are not very good, but since I have my own inserts, it doesn't really matter to me, but some might be put off by this.
