Do It All Hiking Boot

Familiarity:
I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

From huge, rocky, steep off trail pushes, to sloppy, mucky, rainy and wet trails, these boots crush any hiking environment. They're rugged and durable, and can tackle any style of hiking or backpacking. They're stiff, but comfortable, and for this style of boots, the stiffness is a good thing; they're not overly stiff. They run a little warm when on the move because of the goretex membrane, but that should be expected.

Great Quality

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Salewa makes a great product and these boots are no exception . Felt a bit heavy at first but feel great after you break down the stiffness a bit.

comfy enough; stiff laces; too heavy

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

These shoes were wearable after just a single day of hiking to break them in. Tightening the laces can leave your fingers raw. However they are NOT as light as they claim. My pair of size 9's weighs 3 lb 5 oz (1376 grams) (or 1 lb 8 oz per shoe; already heavier than claimed weight, let alone the fact that claimed weight should be for the pair, not one member of the pair).

shoes!

It's tough to find a great fit on hiking boots. It should ideally involve trying on several pairs and comparing the fit and feel of each. This boot was chosen because it fit my fairly narrow feet. With the Scrapa approach shoes I just donated to Goodwill, I was constantly suffering from blisters on my heels and big and little toes. The fit was just bad. I got this pair because the heel cup on Salewa is great for reducing heel lift and helps prevent blisters. This boot is fairly stiff, especially compared to other Salewa models. There are hooks so you can adjust how tight the heel sits within the heel cup while simultaneously keeping the shank quite loose if desired. These are rugged, yet fairly lightweight and will be a great investment as Selewa tends to be very high in quality. I'm excited to log some serious miles in these. What sold them for me was how rugged and grippy the sole was, the dialed in, tight heel cup, and their light weight.

great boot

Great feeling and much better fit than I expected. I have another pair that I thought fit and went a half size smaller than I normally do but after hiking realized they were too snug and blistered. That being said I would say they fit true to size. I returned this pair however because they were NOT made with quality. My specific pair had a small gap where the rubber toe protection meets the shoe..see image. the other boot jutted right up to the edge and you could not see any glue or gap. I fear the glue but that will deteriorate over time leaving the boot vulnerable to seeping in water. I plan to buy another pair though to replace these .

Can this fit semi-auto crampon?

Hi Lei! These should match well with semi-auto crampons! Let me know if you're looking (or have) a specific pair and I can give you a more concrete answer but overall the heel on this should lock with semi auto set ups!
