I bought some low top Salewa hiking shoes a few years ago which I love and was looking forward to getting this Gore-tex model. However, the inner gaiter/sock on this model is way too wide and simply sags around my ankle. It doesn't seem to provide any functionality. The body of the shoe is also quite wide for my narrow feet and since the shoe is very stiff it is hard to get them laced snuggly. I was thinking they would break in and mold to my feet eventually but after multiple wearings this does not seem to be the case.

I don't usually purchase shoes online but I had to snag this pair. They were on sale for almost 50% off and boy am I glad I bought them on a whim! They're a bit snug at first try but after a few wears they felt perfect. I have high arches and these shoes provide great support without inserts. My feet did not hurt after a 5 hour hike with a 15-lb pack on my back on the 2nd try. They are well worth the investment.
