Motive Fly Rod
Whether you're heading to the Yucatan Peninsula, off to Andros Island to chase silvers, or on the coast of Jersey looking for feisty blues and tough strippers, make sure to have the Sage Motive 4-Piece Fly Rod in the palm of your hand. The Motive's all-new taper design creates a powerful, fast-action rod that loads quickly to deliver heavy saltwater flies with the distance and accuracy the sport demands.
This saltwater-specific fly rod features a full-wells grip with strong fighting butt to provide the necessary strength to fight and control large game fish. Heavy saltwater lines slip easily through the oversized guides, and the aluminum reel seat and saltwater-compatible components round out the Motive's fine features. Built on a bluefin blue blank, the rods have blue primary thread wraps with royal blue and black trim wraps. The rods come in a blue steel colored ballistic-nylon rod tube with a divided liner.

A perfect rod
- I've put it through the wringer
The Sage Motive packs a serious punch for the price. It is fast, very fast, without reaching the quickness of the Method. Fast enough to cut well enough through winds while saltwater fishing for me. I have this rod in both a seven and a nine weight rod. It does everything I want from freshwater trout & bass fishing to primarily salt water Seatrout and red fishing. A windy day is no match for either rod weight, and for the price of this rig, I don’t think this type of performance can be beat. It is remarkably easy to cast, even though it is quite fast. I wouldn’t recommend this rod specifically for beginner fly fisherman given its speed, but definitely intermediate and advanced fisherman would find a friend in this rod. It is very casting friendly and will cut right through a headwind to put the fly where you want it, which is a big deal with saltwater fishing. Lastly, Sage’s warranty speaks for itself. Would order this again without a doubt.

- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Only used it once briefly, excited to go to Alaska and really test it out in September. Sage makes great rods so I wont be surprised at all when it performs top notch.

Can a fisherman ever have to many rods?
- I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
Hell no! Lengths and weights for all kinds of fish and rivers. That's just a fly guys steez. What more can you say about the brand SAGE other than quality.
