    Plush

I got this for my godchild-dog, and he loves it. He is a big chunk of a dog- 150lb Russian Ovcharka- and it still fits him. It's really nice that you can pull the cover and wash that on a regular basis, and the handle is great for easy rearranging around the house. The dog loves it for comfort, and the humans love it for the good features. All in all, it's a win- I would definitely recommend!

    Nice, shows everything though

My dog loves this bed (have it at home) and he will sleep on it all afternoon. The only complaint I have about it (since he doesn't seem to have any) is that this material shows every particle of dirt, treat residue, and fur. I am washing it every week (which, it's great in the wash) but I wish I knew it would be messy all the time otherwise I may have gone with a different color perhaps (got trailhead brown).

Great bed, but perhaps I bought this bed too early for Henry. He chewed it up within a month but I called Ruffwear and they offer a replacement cover; just call them directly.

    More comfortable than my bed!

This bed is amazing! I got it for my 12 year old dog and one of the best features is that we can flip over the mattress for a firmer or softer bed depending on what she needs and the time of year. The microfiber texture of the outer fabric is really soft but very easy to clean (machine-washable too) . The XL size I ordered is great for big dogs and allows for a lot of extra space to lie on. Finally, the handle allows us to move it around the house very easily as well as take it everywhere with us when adventuring! Whether you use it indoors or outdoors this bed is remarkable and your dog will thank you.

    Dreamy

Although our 50lb healer initially used this as a giant pillow, she has now grown to love it. It's our primary dog bed in the house, yet we're still about to shove it in the bottom of our tent when we're out camping. You can feel the quality right out of the box, and the cushioning seems to be just right. Better than a big, heavy, bulky dog bed!

    Dogs love it!

We have bought this for my mom's dog who was quite old and found it difficult to stay in one spot for too long. This was a great bed for her.

    She loves it

My dog loves this bed. We have many other comfortable surfaces in the living room and she always goes to this. The mattress can be flipped over for a firmer bed or back to the other side for a softer bed. The cover can be easily cleaned and seems like it will hold up to years of use!

We have two dogs one adult and one puppy we just got. We wanted to get puppy his own bed since Yuki already has hers. Well Barney (puppy) loves his bed and Yuki does too. More so than her own. So it must be a good bed if both doggos are using it. I love the tan color it's a great neutral color that won't clash with anything in your home and plus it loos like it's from LL Bean with out the LL Bean price tag :P. I got the medium and it fits a 45lbs dog just fine I wouldn't get the bigger one at that point you might as well get box spring and bed frame :)

    A Great Bed

    Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I use this bed for everything! My dog can be found lounging on it under my desk, in the car, on the trail - literally, everywhere. It seems to be a really good quality and the microsuede offers a bit of comfort for your fur-friend. I'm not so sold on the double density thing. The two sides of the pad do seem to differ, but if I want to flip over the pad, I'd take away the comfy mmicrosuede... I guess you could take the internal pad out and flip it based off what support you want to give your dog on any given day, but that seems a bit silly, to me. Lastly, this is a thick and supportive bed. It's more expensive, but I believe the quality is superior for the price.

This is a great dog bed - it's soft, easy to transport and looks great. Plus, it's easy to clean. Highly recommended. My dog is 85 lbs and likes to stretch out, so the large is just right for him - he can fit on a medium, but has to stay curled up. Great dog bed!

It is a generous size and has a side handle making it very easy to move Out Labrador Retriever has plenty of room. He is 85 pounds and we bought a large. He loves the cozy fabric and I love the underside fabric it is slip proof Also the mattress is a great size it slips under a bed for storage

    Too Good for the Dirt

Teresa, Is that a Medium? Did you happen to compare this to the Mt. Bachelor Pad and if so, why did you go with this one?

Hey Steenrod, yes this is the medium. Koa is around 65 lbs and it's the perfect size! I bought this over the Mt. Bachelor because I use it at work and home as well. I wanted more padding so that he would be comfortable. I am still considering buying the Mt Bachelor or Highlands bed for trips where space is an issue.

I use this dog bed for my boy at home in his kennel and out camping, he loves it and so do I since it cleans up so easily! It is quite large so keep the measurements in mind when picking one out, I got a medium for my English Bulldog and it's plenty big.

Koa hates sitting on the dirty uncomfortable ground when we are camping, so he loves bringing his bed to sit around the camp fire. The rubber like bottom makes cleaning the dirt off the bed really easy.

    Bed fit for a King!

    Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

The urban sprawl bed is definitely one of the nicest beds out there. It's super plush and I love that you can wash both the cover & the inside pad. I haven't had it long enough to see how the padding will hold up over time, but will provide an update after a few months of regular use. The large is quite big & would easily fit an extra large dog (great dane, st. bernard, etc). There is quite a big size difference between the medium & large - would be great if there was a happy medium between the two.

    The

does it have a zipper to seperate the cover and pad or is it all go in at once into the washing machine??

If you watch the video above your post, the cover zips off from the mattress and then the mattress has a cover as well that can be zipped off as well.

I love backcountry, but it regularly blurs the line between what is waterproof and what is not. Ruffwear says that the base is waterproof, but it does not claim that the suede-like top is waterproof. Like other product descriptions, I think that backcountry's version of this one is somewhat misleading. Perhaps backcountry would like to clarify its description?

Ok, I empathize with the issue of BC's somewhat ambiguous description of the waterproof capability of this pad, so hopefully I'll answer your question: The only facet of this bed that is waterproof is the "recycled polyester fabric base [which] creates a moisture barrier" (http://www.backcountryk9.com/Products/Ruffwear-Urban-Sprawl). While there is more than one polyester-based facet of this bed's construction, that is the only part that is actually waterproof, according to the product's specifications. As to the microsuede cover that wraps the mattress, that is not waterproof, but it is machine washable, so in the event it does get wet dog paws on it, you can always give it quick wash to keep it clean for your pup. What's more, the mattress itself is also washable, so should your dog get wet paws on it one day, you can always wash that from time to time to prevent mold from growing due to lingering moisture that make seep through the microsuede. Hope this helps.
