    Polar Trex Pair

Regardless of the fact that it's incredibly hilarious to watch your dog slide uncomfortably on icy surfaces, Fido is better off having a hint of traction thanks to the Ruffwear Polar Trex Pairs. Ideal for cold weather, the Polar Trex feature an insulated, softshell fabric for enhanced defense against chilly snow and equally as chilly temperatures. Meanwhile, the Vibram outsole maintains just-enough traction so Fido doesn't go careening off and hurt themselves, and the hook-and-loop closure maintains a personalized fit. Ruffwear emphasizes that you measure the length of your dog's paws to ensure that you buy the right fit, otherwise you risk losing a boot or cramping Fido's foot (and style—after all, there's nothing more embarrassing than the Dreaded Boot Walk). Additionally, it's important to note that this edition includes two boots instead of four.

    • Protect your pooches' feet with this boot
    • Softshell material is insulated for added warmth
    • Gaiter extends over boot height for protection against skis
    • Vibram outsole provides superb traction on icy surfaces
    • Sold as a pair (two boots)

    Perfect

    True to size

I love that Ruffwear sells these in pairs rather than fours. I was able to order the perfect fit for my pooch's front and back paws. They are very grippy, and the gaiters keep his paws dry. I wouldn't say he's happy about these....but I am.

    Good for ice not snow

I'm typically very happy with ruffwear products, so maybe this one was defective, but out in the snow while we are xcountry skiing you could see where the snow had melted through the top of the boot and my dog's feet were soaked. Ruffwear says they are weather and waterproof... the grey cuff also fills with snow if they get into snow that's deeper than the cuff which you then have to dig out cuz they start limping. They do fit well and stay on especially with the socks. Worked well on ice for traction and kept her feet from freezing, but really wanted the waterproofing for skiing. I will return them. Dark spots on the boots is where water soaked through.

Worth the time it takes to put on

These boots are pretty full-on: snow gaiter, velcro strap, vibram sole. They're a great option for those pups out exploring in frigid temps. My dog has really small paws and narrow legs, so it was a tricky fit getting booties that fit both her paws and wouldn't fall off. I really like that these come in pairs, to fit her back and front paws better. The booties do take a bit of doing to put on, as they do not open as much as the Summit Trex, for example. I think they are a bit pricey, but do seem really durable, and not showing any wear after half a winter so far.

    Fit is hard

My dog has really small paws so they didn't quite work out but the quality is great and I'm excited to get them for the next pup!
