    All-terrain paw protection.

Your loyal pup is always willing to go on any adventure with you, no matter how tough the challenge. Unfortunately, their paws may not exactly feel the same way. Keep Fido's paws from getting cut up on rocky trails and demanding hikes with the Ruffwear Bark'n Boots Grip Trex Set of 4. A rugged Vibram outsole provides trustworthy grip on a wide variety of terrain, and the mesh upper keeps air circulating while preventing debris from working its way in. The hook-and-loop closure cinches around the narrowest part of a dog's leg to ensure a secure non-slip fit.

    Pup's little feet savers!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have had these for a year or two for my dog to save his feet on long hikes and backpacking trips and they work great, so I had to get some for the new doggo too! It takes a little bit for him to get used to them everytime, which can be funny, but once he gets used to them, I think even he likes the added protection and charges a little harder than without them on.

    Perfect little pup booties!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

My pup has a hard time having them on at first but once she's used to them they are great! The way they are designed makes them easy to put on, and STAY ON!

**I did have to exchange sizes so be sure to measure your dogs paws!

    Amazing product.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

My dog doesn’t hate going out in the snow anymore! They protect her feet from the effects of salt and are also great for protecting from rocks and hot surfaces during the summer. She used to rip her pads up before I bought these and now her paws have never been better! Side note... they are so cute.

They'd be great if my dog wore them

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

They're super great quality, and have a good tread, and would work great, if my dog didn't immediately tear them off of his feet when I put them on. He figured out the velcro, and now just takes them off once I put them on. If they had a more dog proof closure, that would be great, either that or my dog needs to lose some IQ points (lol).

    Measuring is Key

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I ended up returning the set of 4 and buying 2 pairs. I have a 60lb lab mix and her front paws are bigger than her back paws. The smalls were twisting on her back feet so I am waiting to see how the x-smalls fit! I am very impressed with the fit on her front paws and look forward to getting her out on the trail in these!

    Great pup shoes!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

First of all, it is hilarious when you first put these shoes on your pup. Make sure to be ready to take some video.

Secondly, we have put these shoes to some real good use. My dog has had them for over two years. We use them to backpack, go to climbing crags, and in the snow. Anytime surfaces are too hot, too cold, or potentially too sharp I use them. My dog recently suffered a really bad cut on his paw that took months to heal, so I tend to use them more than not to prevent future injury.

Be sure to size using the provided directions and size chart! This is important. Ruffwear does a good job of making the sizing accurate when you follow the directions.

They do wear a little on my dogs ankles and can be uncomfortable for him when they are wet and rubbing (so I take them off when he is swimming). Pros outweigh the cons! Especially after dealing with my dog's recent foot pad injury.

Frankly - my dog hucks harder with these on. They don't seem to hold him back at all.

    Great pup shoes!

    Seem great so far

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

After a little getting used to my dog barely even notices them on and they seem to stay on fairly well, although we've yet to put them to the real test on a longer excursion

    Going to try the socks/bootliners

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Well living in Southern California and doing a lot of hiking, boots seemed like a must for the summer. We got them Wednesday, my pup Koda walked funny at first but quickly got used to them. He wore them a bit every day, trying to get used to them and seemed alright. Today we put them to the test and went a hike, had to stop after mile 5, we usually do 10+, given there were a lot of switchbacks and some decent elevation gains but isn’t that what these were made for? I took his boots off 2 times in the first 3 miles. The first time I was concerned with his dew nail, the boots sit higher than the site says they should, his boots go over the nail. I put self adhesive medical wrap around them thinking that would protect him. Other than that, they took on a bit of sand but his feet seemed ok. The 3rd time I took the boots off, he had multiple sores from where they were rubbing. I cleaned his feet with some med supplies I carry and wrapped them up again but covering more paw this time. It was more than his dew nail getting rubbed, the side of both front paws and the ankle of both rear paws. When I took the boots off him, I also noticed the stitching was coming undone on the toe of the boot. We’ll try again with the wicking socks but not impressed so far.
I also noticed he was panting a lot more than normal & it made me wonder if that was from the boots. I know dogs sweat a bit from their paws.

    Good

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I really wish they made a sleeve that extended from the shoe like the winter boots. They are great for hot sand situations that would burn my pups paws but do tend to come off occasionally. Luckily we've been able to find them each time they have come loose.

Great Boots - With Some Adjustments

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I need tough boots for my dog when we are skiing, hunting, and camping. These are the first ones I've tried that stand up to the abuse he puts them through. The two things I like are that the material on the bottom isn't simply cordura or nylon - it is a grippy rubber so it protects (and insulates a bit) as well as gives him traction when he is running. The second is that the velcro closures are located high enough on the paw and taper enough that in good weather the velcro strap can wrap around and keep the boot on. Previously, on other booties there was either no taper or they were set too low so boots would fly off when my dog was running. If you measure your dog's paws correctly (and this is super important so that you don't hurt their paws - make sure you follow Ruffwear's directions and have them splay so that you know the space they will need), then you don't have to worry about them being too small or strapping them on snugly up top.
My only real complaint is what other's have mentioned - in the snow the velcro really fails pretty quickly. If your dog is just bopping along on a sidewalk expect to not have many problems. However, if you are heading into the backcountry in the snow and your dog is flying through bushes or your are winter hunting and he's crashing through brush, you'll lose a boot and no amount of brushing off the ice and snow will get it to stick back on there (if you're lucky enough to find it - hooray for my GSP's great nose!). I've learned this the hard way.
The solution (after ordering an extra set so that your buddy doesn't get frost-bite out in the middle of the backcountry) is to order socks (or wrap the paws up above to the hocks with athletic wrap, not tape), but the boots on, and then tape over the velcro closures to the socks or wrap so that they don't come off in the field. Have some extra tape handy, and keep it warm inside your vest or coat so that the sticky side doesn't get so cold that it doesn't adhere well if you have to re-wrap.
So - best boots on the market, could do better in the snow, but with a little time and attention you can fix this issue and you and your bud will be having a great time out there all year round.

    So far so good!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I recently realized my dog needed booties to protect her feet in the winter. She initially rejected the booties, it was actually pretty comical to watch. After walking around with her outside for a little she got use to them. Every time we put them on she spends the first few minuets walking funny and trying to get them off but after that things seem to be all good. If you measure the dogs foot like they tell you too they seem to stay on!

    I love my boots.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I needed protection from the very hot pavement and rocks . I saved my monies from chores and purchased these boots. they perform wonderfully, except i have my front dew claws and the boots irritate them badly due to the closure rubbing my dew claws. I have tried socks in conjunction with my boots, but still the same outcome.

I shall soon purchase the taller version of the boot named polar trex because the closure is located much higher to clear my dew claws.

    I highly recommend these boots.

    Get out and hike.

    Have a great day.

    Bodhi.

    I love my boots.

    Amazing K9 Paw Protection

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Bought these for a trip to the snow, but there was now snow....so they worked great for protecting the hardwood floors at the cabin. They stay on very well, I bought some years ago for another dog and they didn't fit very well or stay on, it seems as though they have really improved the product. Sizing chart was a big help and they fit as measured.

    Second set of 4!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought these for my dog, Koda, 2 years ago because her front paws have become sensitive to concrete/rocks in her old age. Without the boots on she limps a bit because the ground hurts her feet, but with the boots she trots along happy as can be! She only wears them on her front paws because her back paws aren't sensitive, so I've been able to use all 4 boots for her front paws. She is just now starting to wear through on all 4 of them, they've been awesome! She does trip on them from time to time when she's tired. but other than that we love them. Her old boots were gray but we decided to get the pretty "blue spring" color this time (^-^). She is a 60 lb boxer, her paws are 2.75 in wide, the medium's fit very well.

Pro tip! If your doggo rejects the booties at first, don't give up and try not to laugh. I found that when I laughed Koda wouldn't take the boots seriously. Take your dog on slower walks at first, be very encouraging and give treats!

    Second set of 4!

Size right and they work great!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

My older dog has started to get very sensitive feet so i knew it was time to get some boots. MAKE SURE YOU MEASURE THEIR FEET! i know a lot of people complain about the shoes coming off, but i swear as long as you get the correct size they stay put. I originally thought Lucy was a small and scored the older generation at a cheap price. they came right off. Those ones fit my pittie/lab perfect. I got Lucy an XS and she runs up and down the trails all day. Entertainment factor is worth it too!

    Crazy dog Moms

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Both my pups have these, mostly because I worry about us going on a hike and hitting a hot spot and them burning they're paws. I would feel horrible. They will take a minute to get use to them , which is hilarious to watch.
