    Katana Binding

With the Katana Binding, Rome has created the ultimate weapon for slicing your way down big-mountain lines and carving up corduroy with ruthless precision. It delivers a powerful, responsive feel that's optimal for technical riding and high-speed pursuits, while still offering flexibility where you want, and it's highly customizable so you can fine-tune it to your riding style. New this season, Rome upgraded the Katana with an Asym FlexChannel Highback that features a single diagonal flex slot, resulting in heelside response that has support where you need it and has flexibility on the inside top corners for tweak and smooth flow.

The baseplate makes minimal contact with your board, allowing the board to flex the way it was meant to. AsymWrap tech offers quick and powerful edge-to-edge response for charging steeps and weaving through trees, while still allowing side-to-side flex so you can tweak tricks and get loose. Cant-In-The-Back II lets you customize the alignment of your highback so you can match it with the cant on your footbed, giving you a perfectly aligned ride that reduces fatigue and maximizes power. Customizable forward lean, highback rotation, and straps let you dial in the perfect fit, and plenty of padding ensures a smooth ride without making things feel mushy.

    Solid all round binding!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've rode this on a few different boards and really liked the feel once I dialed in the fit. Like others said, the binding is really adjustable, so you can really dial in a solid fit with some tinkering. The flexible toe cap is really nice, but does tend to slide a bit--I like the old school right angle toes! The mid flex rating is spot on. The one downside for me is the mini baseplate. I usually kick my bindings back towards the heel side on a regular board to alleviate any chance of toe drag with size 13 boots on a regular board

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These are great all around bindings. You will feel comfortable on big lines, trees, powder, park, and groomers. These bindings are easy to adjust to your style and liking. You won't be disappointed! I used these bindings with the Ride Warpig and the K2 Manifest multiple times.

    No Complaints.

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Overall I liked these bindings. I’m not a super aggressive rider and the flex was just right for me. The fit was good. I wear a 9.5 Thirty-Two boot and the M/L was perfect. Easy adjustments, easy install, great flex, great pricing. You can’t ask for more than that.

    (Almost) Infinite Adjustment

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Fine tune your ride with these near perfect bindings from Rome. I've had the chance to try quite a few offerings from other brands, but none come close to the customized fit and performance of the Katana. I felt at one with my board and the snow underneath, confidently charging into turns without any fuss from my bindings. I can't speak to the durability just yet, but the low weight, minimal surface contact and near infinite adjustments have won me over.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Had the pleasure of borrowing last years model for a few weeks recently and fell in love as I set them up. First thing I noticed is the quality of materials and construction. These are a bit on the high end of price as far as bindings but they absolutely look and feel premium. The bindings I picked up last year (and still enjoy) feel cheap next to these. As others have mentioned - very comfortable, responsive and customize-able. What hit home for me is the innovative design that results in sweet features like the little adjustable arms that hold the heel straps and change the flex profile, and the beautifully designed Auto-strap itself with a ski-strap-like tensioner that pulls the strap away from the footbed. I am looking forward to checking out the latest iteration of this bad boy.

    Great All around!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I ripped on the Katanas, Super flowy, the binding for me was very responsive and fast at initiating and transitioning through turns. I thought the toe strap could have been a little stiffer, it was kind of stretchy at first but after being out on them found it was kind of nice. The fit was solid, the weight was dialed in and it ripped for me!!!

To me - There is no other binding

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have several pair of Katanas and have been riding them since they were first released. The combination of weight / durability / reliability / and performance is unmatched at ANY price. The new highback design offers a little more stiffness and feels even lighter than the already ultralight binding. As a Rome fan, I also own DOD's and Targa's - The Katana has replaced them all. Don't think about it, invest in happiness. Set them once and love them forever.

To me - There is no other binding

    Comfort and Style

I've ridden the older Katana's over the last few years and really liked their versatility and comfort. When I got the chance to ride the new 2019 version I jumped at the chance to check out that new highback. First thing I noticed is that these suckers are SUPER LIGHT. Way lighter than I remembered. The new highback felt about 10-15% stiffer than the order version, which was a welcome change. I'm a pretty big dude (190 lbs) and I like a little stiffer highback. After a few runs I barely even felt these on the board. They are so light and responsive, they just felt like a natural extension of me. I love these bindings and would recommend them to anyone looking for a light weight, high performance binding.

    Comfort and Style

    Stylish versatile binding

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is my main go to binding. It is solid, keeps you in place with great response dynamics through the straps, the the sidewalls and the baseplate distribution. Even with the secure fit, it still provides so many customizations, you can obtain the ideal strap placement and lateral flex. The straps are some of the most comfortable I have ridden and they feature quick tool-less length adjustment if you need to quickly adjust on-mountain. The toe strap lock in and cups your toe to increase toe to heel response, stability and reduces loss of toe play. I have not had any issues with pressure points or anything, since the straps are so comfortable and adjustable. The high-back is a great height and has both rotation and forward lean adjustments to allow you to customize to various riding styles and terrain needs. The footbeds are really comfortable and while adding cushion, they still allow you to really feel the board still. They are fairly lightweight as well, which is a nice bonus. You should probably just get some and try them out for yourself. You won't be disappointed.
