Decent bike rack, but...

This rack is probably one of the least expensive hitch mount tray style two-bike carriers on the market. The arm tubes are robust, and so far I have not had any issues with the plastic wheel trays (unlike another reviewer). However, if you live in a tropical or rainy climate be warned that this rack collects water when in the upright or bike carrying position. I routinely leave it in the very lowered position when I know it's going to rain to minimize any water collection. I also was thinking of drilling some drain holes but was concerned it would void my warranty. Other than this issue...I like the rack, especially the price point.

Simple No Fuss Product

This rack is easy to assemble, install and use. The support arms don't obstruct your license plate and make it easy to access the rear hatch of my vehicle. It came with the 2" hitch adapter and the packaging/instructions were great. Feels solid, doesn't move much while driving. It has fit small kids mountain bikes up to my friend's XXL 29r enduro bike. The only drawback I've found is there is nothing to keep the arm that secures the front wheel in place when all folded up. I've found a way to use the wheel straps to accomplish this, but it's not ideal. If there was a simple strap or feature to secure the arms when not in use it'd be a perfect 2 bike hitch rack.

Great high quality rack for a good price

My wife and I have used this rack a couple times a week for the last 2 years excluding during the winter to carry both MTB and road bikes all over New England. It's been rock solid, no rust issues and all the plastic components have held up fine. I highly recommend it. It's so solid that it usually just stays on the car all summer long through all weather. Also for the reviewer who said there's no way to secure the arms when it's folded up, you are supposed to use the straps that hold the rear wheel to secure the arms, it works perfectly, not sure how you didn't figure that out.

DO NOT BUY THIS RACK

We bought the westslope from our local bike shop less than a year ago. Within that time, the bolt holding one of the support beams SHEARED TWICE now. Just last week, while driving, one of the plastic cups holding the front wheel completely broke off, sending my bike crashing off the rack. Thank goodness we were driving slowly or else the bike would have been destroyed. Rockymounts idea of "warranty" was to send us a new bolt. They are well aware of this issue and continue to sell racks that break bikes. Even once repaired, I can no longer trust this rack to carry my bikes safely, and will be shopping for a replacement asap (definitely not another rockymounts). My bike shop was horrified and continue to see other issues with this rack as well; they do not plan to carry the westslope anymore.

Do not buy

I've had this rack for 2 years. During the first heavy rainstorm it was in it began to rust out of the seams. 2 years later this has only gotten worse. I'm now forced to replace it because of concerns about structural integrity, every component is now rusty, with ripples in the paintwork and unsightly rust stains everywhere. In addition, many of the plastic components have begun to wear and have excessive play. As someone who rides MTB 2x a week or more, this rack got me to the trailhead, but only just. Finally, Rocky mounts did not include any way to secure the arms when the rack is folded up on the vehicle, so I've had to use my own Velcro straps to stop the arms from swinging toward my trunk and smacking it during braking. This rack looks like a bargain, but it is really just a waste of money.
