    Stiffness, boosted.

The 5.5in travel of RockShox's Pike RCT3 Solo Air 140 Boost Fork for 27.5in wheels appeals to the enduro-minded trail riders who also enjoys serving as their own shuttle to the top. The oversized Boost 148mm axle supports both impulses, making for a stiff front end for more efficiency while torqueing up climbs and better line-sticking tracking while bombing down the other side. The Power Bulge feature involves a reinforced lower leg and oversized bushing, which further increases stiffness without increasing stanchion size.

Despite the new axle standard, the Pike still features the same Solo Air spring, and it's paired with a three-position RCT3 charger switch to adjust the damper, letting you choose discreet amounts of lockout for big hits and fast roll-overs, rock gardens and root lattices, or locked-out speed for climbing and sprinting. While riding the fork open, the Rapid Recovery feature indulges the Pike's terrain-gobbling tendencies by keeping recovery short between hits, so you'll always have that cushion, even through successive bumps.

    Amazing Fork

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have had this fork on my last 2 bikes, one in 140 and another in 160. Overall, I'd say I like it more than my current Fox 36. The 36 may be a bit stiffer, but I honestly don't think thats a difference I would notice too much.
What I do notice is that the Pike was easier to setup to my preference, and I really like the adjustments. The 36 is still beating the crap out of me as I try to figure out my settings

    Stiff, Light, and Plush

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The Pike needs no introduction. Since it's inception it has been getting rave reviews. That being said I think it's still as relevant today as it was when it launched.

The Charger damper does an excellent job smoothing out the rough trail while maintaining traction even over the roughest section of trail. The rebound and compression tuning is easy to tune and allows you to dial your fork into the trail conditions you ride most. The torque cap adds additional stiffness to an already stiff chassis. All things considered I think you'll be hard pressed to find a better fork for the money.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I chose the Pike RCT3 140 boost fork for my Santa Cruz 5010. Loving the 130 in the rear and 140 up front. Makes the 5010 that much more of a Enduro machine. Dialing in the rebound after knowing a specific section of trail has been a game changer. The extra lateral stiffness of the boost really excels in the tight corners and curves. Give me a shout if you want to talk shop.
