The flat pedal warriors among us will certainly appreciate the Ride Concepts Hellion Shoe when it comes time to drop in on seriously gnarly terrain. Offering increased impact protection, rugged durability, and a sticky rubber outsole, these shoes up the ante when it comes to foot comfort and pedal control. They feature tough synthetic uppers with an anti-peel coating that holds up to rocks and roots on the trail, as well as extensive perforations to keep your feet cool during long summer days at the bike park. For the bottom of the shoe, Ride Concepts partnered with the experts at Rubber Kinetics to create the DST 6.0 High Grip Rubber Outsole. This design combines their tackiest rubber with a grippy honeycomb tread pattern, working together to ensure your feet stay locked in place through even the chunkiest terrain.
As far as protection goes, The Hellion Shoes comes with anti-abrasion toe and heel guards, as well as a fully gusseted tongue that prevents the intake of dirt and debris. These are nice features, but perhaps the most unique and impressive feature is the D3O High Impact Zone Insole Technology. D3O is highly shock-absorbent padding that's commonly used for knee pads and elbow guards. By incorporating D3O into the insole, the Hellion significantly reduces the impacts sustained from huck-to-flat landings and big days in rugged terrain.

Close but not quite
- I've put it through the wringer
Runs small narrow & no half sizes. Not enough grip, the rubber is to hard, does not compare to 5/10 Stealth Rubber. Nice shoes and I wanted to like them but the soles do not inspire confidence. In 2 weeks I put about 350 miles on them thru all kinds of terrain. Old skool single track, new flow jump line trails, skatepark, downhill, commuting and a130 mile road/gravel ride. Anytime the trail got rough, went over drops and jumps or hit some gravel washboard I'd loose grip on the pedals. Full suspension mtb Deity Decoy Hardtail park/jump mtb Deity Decoy Gravel road touring OneUp Components Composite On the plus side. They seem well made; no defects, not heavy and comfortable (although tight) Good toe protection Look good. I even played 18 in them, had to buy a shirt but no complaints about the shoes. Lace holders are a nice touch. Pedaling platform is fantastic. 130 mile ride and no foot cramps, fatigue or pain. Felt bad about returning after so many miles. But after 4th of July holiday & a lot of riding I was thoroughly annoyed at the lack of grip. Rubber to pedal interface is the most important factor on a flat shoe and these don't have it. Backcountry returned for store credit. THANK YOU Ordered up a pair of Freerider Pros

This shoe does not have RC's stickiest rubber compound. They have other shoes with stickier rubber - DST 4.0. This has DST 6.0 which is not very sticky. Agreed on half sizes.
