    Wade all day.

It may be ninety degrees outside, but that's some high mountain runoff you'll be wading in, so slap on a pair of waders and the Redington Men's Palix River Sticky Rubber Wading Boots if you want to last more than an hour. These simple and effective boots are made with a durable canvas upper, which is supported by a rugged rubber toe cap for increased durability and toe protection. The rubber sole offers reliable traction when you're walking on slick river bottoms and can be fitted with metal studs, if you need a bit more bite from these boots.

    Affordable, comfortable, BIG boot!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Yep, these run big. The nice thing for me is a 12 gave me the extra room for adding a thicker sock on the colder days. These don't have a ton (or any) ankle support either, but for a simple boot I have no complaints. I wrap the laces around the back to give it more snug of a fit. I've used them 3x and they're holding up well so far, even with a little hiking to get into the river. For the money I'd probably buy these again. My BC gearhead Karissa steered me towards these on my budget and I'm thankful I didn't have to fork out another $200 to go fishing!

    Baffled

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I'm absolutely baffled. Redingtion needs to explain the sizing behind this one. As others have said, these run large - very large. I where a size 10.5/11 in boots/shoes and order a size 9 and 10 to hopefully account for the comments other reviewers made. I still have an inch of room in the toe box of the 9's with wool socks and neoprene socks on. I'm thinking i'd need a 7 to have a proper fit. The boot appears similar in footprint size to other models (sort of) but there is very little material to the boot which I think results in the very oversized feel. I think they would be comfortable and I like the look and price point but I will be returning.

    Cool Look, HUGE size.

These are really good looking boots, for the price, they look like they would really do a great job on the river! My husband liked them since they look a little more low profile compared to a lot of wading boots. He is typically a size 9, but that wasn't in stock, so we ordered the size 10 hoping they may just be a tad big with waders on, but they are huge. Like 2-3 shoe sizes bigger huge. Even with waders on, he still had about 3 inches of room in the toes. I would definitely size down in these- I don't even think a size 9 would have fit him if it was in stock.
He hasn't used them at all, and will be returning them due to sizing, so I can't give a review on performance, but wanted to let you know about sizing references!

    Runs a bit big

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I am a street size 10 with minimal wiggle room so I got these in a size 10 due to the compensation made by most manufacturers of wading boots these days. The boots fit quite large so I may recommend downsizing if you don’t fill your day to day shoe to the top. Other than that they are attractive and the sticky rubber lives up to its name. Also for the price you couldn’t beat them. I highly recommend… just try them on with booties if you get a chance to see how they fit you.

    Get What You Pay For

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I picked these up last min before last winter and was hoping I could get at least a year of medium/heavy use out of them. They did not give me what I was looking for. Within a 2-3 months there was only a few stitches still attached to the sole creating large holes that let rock come rolling right in.

I think these would be the perfect shoe for someone that is going 1-2 times a month but if you plan on going any more then that spend the money to get something a little more durable.

    Solid

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I'll be honest. I purchased these mainly because of the price. It's my first pair of wading boots (after wearing old hiking shoes paired with my waders for a year, it was time to upgrade). So far they've been good. I don't have much to compare them to, but for the price I'm happy with the comfort, grip and durability thus far. The top eyelets for the laces have the locking "teeth" so they're easy to lace up and keep tight. I normally wear a size 8 in footwear and decided to go with a 9 in these. I wish I had gone with a size 8 though, even with waders on.

    Comfy!!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These are super comfortable!! That being said, they also feel like a pair of Vans... not a lot of support. I can feel almost everything through the soul, but I like that. I paired them up with some metal screws and that boosted the traction a lot! without them they are alright, but I highly recommend the metal . But get the good stuff. The sheet metal screws from the hardware store fell out in three trips. Great boot for walking long distances. Feels like a shoe. Not a boot.

    sized up one

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I typically wear a size 9 shoe, but bought the size 10 in order to fit my waders with the wading sock into the boot. I bought the rubber sole for Utah rivers primarily and this type of sole helps prevent your boots from transporting those river critters!

    Maybe a little floppy

These are really good starter boots. They are comfortable and easy to walk in, but maybe a little lacking on the support front. I haven't had them long but I can't see them holding up all that well. If they do end up lasting a long time I'll make sure to update this review.
Now, for the money these are great wading boots. If you're just starting out or don't want to break the bank on fly fishing gear these are great. Let's call this a 3.5 star rating.

I have only used the boots in still-water situations thus far, so I don't yet know about the traction on river rocks. They are very comfortable and easy to put on, and seem to be well made. They are exactly what I was looking for in a sticky rubber boot.

        Good starter.

If you are just starting out and don't want to drop the coin on the Patagonia's, Simms and Korker Chromes of the world then these are your boot. Redington has made a boot that is light weight yet supportive and rugged. The rubber soles have a good feel and grip well on those slippery river rocks. The light weight canvas build is a quick dryer and not very heavy when wet as well. Great boot for the novice or in my case a young son with huge paws!
