Iron Ranger 6in Boot

The Iron Ranger Boots from Red Wing Heritage have been protecting the feet of miners for more than a century, so there's a good chance they can protect yours. Oil-tanned leather is used for the upper section, with a double layer over the toe for added protection on the job. A leather insole conforms to your foot's natural shape, letting these boots become more comfortable over time. A steel shank throughout the midsole increases both stability and support for those long stretches of time spent on your feet. Vibram's 430 mini-lug sole won't crack and lose durability after a few years like all-rubber soles sometimes do. Triple-stitched uppers and a Goodyear Welt construction ensure that these boots stand the test of time.

  • Workhorse boot for any part of your life
  • Oil-tanned leather upper is water-resistant
  • Leather insole assures conformed comfort
  • Steel shank ensures day-long stability
  • Vibram 430 sole provides long-lasting durability and grip
  • Red Wing Shoes makes boots in the USA since 1905

High Quality Boot

Fit:
Runs large

This is the nicest pair of boots that I have ever owned in fact I ordered a pair of very nice Italian made boots that were almost double the price of these thinking I would keep those vs these from a high end store. I chose these because of quality and fit and thought about purchasing a second pair to store just in case they stopped making this boot. I would normally where a 10.5 EE or wide, I ordered a 10 and it fits well. You will not be disappointed if you choose to purchase this boot.

I currently own the Red Wing Iron Ranger 8111 Amber Harness Style. They were uncomfortable at first, but now they fit really well. I normally wear 8.5 size Adidas shoes, so I got half a size down and they fit pretty well to say the least. I have extra room in the toe which does not really bother me. Are they comfortable? Yes they are after you put in the work of breaking them in. The thing about Iron Rangers, from a comfort standpoint, is that you give up a lot during break-in—and a little over the rest of the boot’s life—to gain the certainty that these things are going to last, and last, and last. If they can spar with your feet, they are definitely going to display an even firmer resistance to any outside forces that want to do them ill. This is a pair of boots that has it all: looks, durability, invincible leather, and a very competitive price for a boot with all those qualities.

these boots are the best. They've got a classic and simple style that will have long lasting durability. You can dress them up and dress them down, and are suitable for every type of use from desert camping to your best friend's wedding and everything in between,. I now own two pairs and wear them every day. Be sure to purchase the Redwing care products as well to keep these kickers clean and shiny after some hard use.

I love these boots so much I decided to get them in black too. The secret is to size down - I wear a street shoe size 9.5 and ordered the size 9 which are perfect. Now to make them fit like a glove: get a pair of wool socks, soak them in warm water and put them on your feet. Then strap on your new boots as tight as you prefer and wear them for a few hours/until they are completely dry. This breaks them in perfectly, and they will be molded to your foot.

Size down! Everyone says it and they mean it. After I purchased the correct size, it seemed the footbed was too shallow for my heel to fit in properly. I know these boots need time to break-in but the deal breaker for me was that both pairs I purchased had noticeable flaws in the leather work. The first pair had surplus material near the stitching of the sole that created a bulge on the footbed, on the second pair (the ones that fit) the upper part that laces the boot was stitched 1/2 inch further to the inside of the shoe than the other one. Did it matter fit-wise, not really. Did it matter to me price wise, yes it did. For $320, I had expected the boots leather work to be better.

these are by far my favorite boots I have ever owned and I plan to have a pair in my closet for the rest of my life. They look great and once broken in feel absolutely amazing. My normal shoe size is 9.5-10 and 8.5 in the iron rangers is perfect after break in.

These are incredibly comfortable once broken in and the quality is fantastic. They feel like they'll last forever if taken care of properly. Highly recommend buying the leather care kit to keep these looking good.

The iron ranger is one hell of a good looking boot! I love the toe cap and clean leather look. The best feature about these is the vibram sole, there is another iron ranger model boot that does not have that and is just an old school leather sole. If you plan on wearing these boots anytime there's snow on the ground you'll need the vibram rubber sole. The only frustration I have with these boots is that they run large by at least a full size and take a bit to break in. Other than that they are a top notch choice!

I bought these as a gift for my husband and this is what he had to say, "These boots are awesome. I’ve only had them for a few weeks so I’m still working through the break-in period but I can tell these boots are going to hold up against the test of time. Very sturdy construction, solid thick leather and I love the lug sole they have for great traction. I sized down half a size from my normal shoe size and they fit perfectly with wool socks on. Overall a solid boot and very stylish! "

Great boots, I can tell they are very well made and solid leather. They were very stiff the first few times I wore them but they are slowly starting to break in. These boots will be great for years to come!

I had to order 3 different pair of size 9 boots to make one pair. Some were two big and some were two small, but all size 9. I ended up combining the left from the 1st set with the right from the 3rd set to get a pair that fit correctly. I wear a size 10 in everything else. Sizing issues aside, they are great. I bought them as casual / dress boots and wore them in a friend's wedding instead of some cheap, uncomfortable dress shoes.

Hey Chris, Thats super interesting and odd! Sorry for that inconsistency, that's not usually the case for us. Thanks for sticking with it!

Forgive the cheesy title, but with nearly 17 five-star reviews, it's abundantly clear that these boots are pretty incredible. No exception on my end, these boots are mind-blowing to say the least. Coming from my experience, these blow my Timberlands out of the water in terms of style & fit. I got the black harness leather colorway - more of a classic black vs the muted black of the charcoal color. These only look & feel better through wear, the soles are supportive and don't feel cheap or "flat". You get what you pay for, so buy these and don't look for another pair of boots for .. years.

I got these boots for my boyfriend as a gift for a winter wedding. They look so great and are so sturdy and good support. It took him a little bit to break them in but after that no problem. They 100% run a size big so go down a size.

So I wear a size 10.5-11.0 depending on the width of the shoe. I had to go down to a size 9.5 for these boots. The 9.0 was a bit better in terms of length, but not width. I would highly recommend trying them out someplace before purchasing! Aside from the trial and error for fit, these boots are damn beautiful!

Why aren't there any options for Wide sizes? pls halp

Hey Bryan, I just sent you an email with what I found. We don't sell the wide options but if you refer to Red Wing direct, they'll have a few color options for you. I went a full size down with mine and feel it's the best fit.
