Frames are pretty, lenses are garbage

    Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

You can see in the video I attached that the lenses on these Raen sunglasses have very poor polarization. Wearing them turns out to be a very disorienting and distracting experience. Sources of polarized glare, such as car windows, appear shimmery like some kind of optical illusion which not only impairs your vision, but also steals your attention. Not good if you're driving a car or riding a bike on the road. The frames are very attractive. But I'm astonished at how bad the lenses are. Especially for a pair of glasses that are pushing $200.

This is caused by the base curve/wrap of the lenses/frame design (ie what makes them so “pretty”). The only thing that will matter while wearing the glasses is the center/visual axis blocking out polarized light. Your other glasses look like flat style wayfarers, which will makes lens design simple (just flat plano lenses) and give a perpendicular axis at all points. Your video also assumes that if you were looking out of the glasses at extreme versions (really high or low) you would still be perpendicular to the frames. This isn’t the case- you’d be looking at an oblique angle. Think about drawing a line from where the pupil would be to the edge of the lenses while they are on your face. Thus you’d need to rotate the glasses and you might find these actually work better in real world conditions than your flat wayfarers. All this to say, your simple test is not a very good test for quality. Carl Zeiss is well known in the ophthalmologic world for quality lenses. Yours truly, An ophthalmologist

    Solid Shades

I've put it through the wringer
    Fit:
    True to size

From an appearance and functional standpoint these shades are awesome. The polarized lenses do a great job eliminating glare and the construction of them is impressive. When you hold them in your hand they are substantial and do not feel flimsy or cheap. I have a larger, rounder face and these fit me great. Can't really find anything to complain about.

    Pretty Good

    Familiarity:
    I've used it several times

Recently bought these because I love the shape/style/brand. I still like them but I haven't been that impressed with how they stay on my face. They slip frequently and sit a little higher on my nose then I would like but I have a pretty wide bridge. Still not hating them though, the negatives aren't stopping me from wearing them everyday.

    Finally, glasses that fit

    Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    Fit:
    True to size

I have a hard time finding frames that are wide enough, but these fit! Matte black looks nice but is an oil magnet. Would be perfect for me with some adjustable nose grips. Size 54 - 19 - 145.
