Ready to rally.
We're big fans of the rally-ready strength and stiff pedaling efficiency afforded by the Race Face Next R Crankset here at the Northern Utah offices of Competitive, seeing a lot of us ride everything from technical desert trails down in Moab to lift-serviced park laps in the Wasatch. The Next R is a hybrid of Race Face's more robust, downhill-oriented SixC and the feathery, XC-friendly Next cranksets. As such, you'll find the Next R provides the best strength-to-weight in its class of all-mountain and enduro cranksets, tipping the scales at only 495 grams for the crankset with a 32-tooth chainring.
The crank arms are handmade in Canada of unidirectional carbon fiber for optimal pedaling efficiency and stiffness, but without being an overly fragile affair, as they're crafted with a burlier profile and equipped with the SixC G2 pedal insert that prevents blown out threads and stripping. The 7050 alloy spindle is strong enough to withstand repeated thrashings on the mountain and comes in a 30-millimeter diameter.
This particular crankset package includes a Cinch Direct Mount Chainring in 28, 30, or 32-tooth sizes, all sporting a narrow-wide tooth profile to manage chain retention, even when you're bashing and smashing your bike down particularly hairy terrain. 7075 t6 alloy transfers pedal loads without flexing, meaning you'll transmit every watt of available energy into forward acceleration. Additionally, you'll find it's hooked up with Cinch direct-mount technology, so you can easily swap out chainrings to your particular riding needs.
