    Plant your feet and go.

Having a place to put your feet is a pretty non-negotiable part of cycling, but, you don't want to spend your post-ride refreshment budget (and part of next month's rent) on flashy pedals, either. Race Face's Chester Pedals don't have the shiny aluminum construction of some of their pricier counterparts, but they also won't empty your wallet, and Race Face carefully constructs their nylon composite body to make it just as grippy and responsive as aluminum versions.

Using eight replaceable steel hex traction pins on each side of the pedals, Race Face gives the rubber soles of your shoes a place to hang on when you're blasting through destructive territory. It also fully seals the bearing and bushing system while a durable Cro-Mo steel axle keeps the pedal working smoothly for as long as possible. If it eventually does need some work, Race Face makes the system completely serviceable too, so you won't be forced to replace a perfectly good pedal because of a bushing or bearing problem.

    Happy wallet, happy rider

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Let me say this upfront: for ~50 bucks, these pedals rule.

Things I love: great color options, pins that are easy to replace, GRIP - I ride wide with 5.10s, was borrowing a friend's Specialized Bennies (MSRP $80, 12 pins) all summer, and I do not notice a difference in grip with the 8 pin Chesters. My feet stay secure.

Things I've noticed: my feet get fatigued on long descents. A bigger platform with a bit more concave shape might help this. But, dang, the price is just so good...I think I can live with it. But this does keep it from a 5-star rating.

Things to determine: Durability. According to other reviews, they really hold up, but I've only had them out on 3 rides so far. They certainly seem like quality, especially for the price.

Bottomline: I don't think you'll find a better budget flat pedal with the stellar reputation of Chesters. I am stoked.

    BEST VALUE PEDALS

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought my first downhill bike this year and these are the pedals I went with. I am very impressed. They are very grippy, light weight, and big enough for my foot. The best value pedals out there, and the color options are so dope!

Great Pedals at a Great Price

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have used these for almost one season now and I love them. They are a great pedal for the price and they provide a great amount of grip for you so your feet do not come off your pedals prematurely. They are nice and light weight and have been really durable so far.

    Amazing

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Really love these. Super sticky and good feel. Fantastic deal for the quality of what you're getting in comparison to the price point.

    Awesome Value Pedals

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These pedals are great and priced really well. They are comparable to some pedals that I've tried that are 3x the price. Lightweight, super grippy, durable and plenty of colors to choose from

    Great Pedal, Great Value

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Happy with this purchase; no need to break the bank to pick up some great pedals. Love the color choices (Green is my color of the summer for these pedals--looks super) and the grippy traction is what I need; they've come through like a champ.

    Surprisingly good flat pedal

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've ridden many different flats over the years and landed primarily on the race face atlas as my go to pedals. I needed another set so and didn't feel like spending a ton on peddles so I figured I try these out. WOW! these things really are great. they grip juts as good as the atlas, they seems to be strong, when yo ding them its barely noticeable as opposed to metal peddles. i'm not sure what the longevity will be like but so far so good. either way they are serviceable which is great.. I could honestly say unless your doing to most extreme stuff out there try this before spending bigger bucks. you won't go wrong.

Strong, Light, Cheap, you pick all 3!!!

After several decades clipped in, I decided to try flats. Didn't want to spend a lot of cash. Got a set of these and......they're AWESOME.

Grip is great-if you don't have enough you're probably not on 5.10 rubber (seriously- many other flat shoes are as good, except for the rubber). There's just enough concavity for secure grip but it's possible to unweight a foot and move it without too much effort. The bearings spin smoothly and are easy to service. Rear entry pins are easy to pull and swap once they've ground down and/or sheared off.

On rocky trails, the resin bodies slide rather than hanging up if you have a pedal strike and scratches are less visible because the entire bodies are molded in a given color. Lots of colors mean you can be all matchy-matchy if that's your jam.

What else-these weigh 1/4 pound less than most alloy pedals or spds, so your bike will probably be a touch lighter when you thread them into your crankarms. I've jumped off many things riding Chesters, but no bike park time-maybe an alloy body would be better for a full-time dh rig if you're sending the big drops (bigger than 4-6 feet). Otherwise, I see no reason to get any other flat pedal.

      solid pedal for the money

great pedal for the cost, composite body does well, put these on my XC bike and they are awesome. Grip is good, colors are great, price is great you cant go wrong when looking for a good value pedal

        Performance at a great price

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Super grippy pedal, as good a price as you will find, huge range of colors to match your bike. You really cannot go wrong with these if you are looking to save some money on your pedals.
