Valiance Hooded Down Jacket

Be the hero your body deserves this winter by treating it to the decadent warmth and waterproof protection of the Rab Women's Valiance Hooded Down Jacket. Designed to handle winter's wildest weather, the Valiance employs 800-fill goose down, fully taped seams, and a burly Pertex Shield laminate to act as a welcoming sanctuary against sub-zero temps and blizzard-like conditions.

The Pertex Shield fully-taped waterproof outer defends you from rain, sleet, and snow when you're out and about, while still allowing the buildup of internal moisture to escape easily. Then, the 800-fill power RDS-certified European goose down insulation delivers lofty, toasty warmth, and is given a fluorocarbon-free hydrophobic down treatment that keeps you warm even after getting wet. If you've somehow forgotten your favorite beanie at home, the helmet-compatible hood is filled with Pyrotec synthetic insulation for a cozy shelter against the elements, just as the hook-and-loop cuffs are as well. Rab equipped this jacket with an oversized drawcord adjustment at the hem and rear hood for a precise, customized fit, and even gives you a stuffsack for easy transport when you're packing for a trip.

  • Apex down jacket for unbelievable warmth and protection
  • Waterproof, breathable laminate defends against the elements

  • Hydrophobic down treatment keeps you warm even when wet

Finally, a durable down jacket for me

It's very durable, waterproof, windproof, super comfortable, extremely warm and pretty light. This jacket has gone with me to Antarctica and the high arctic on many trips, which includes crazy weather. I now have TWO of these, one in medium and one in large because I love it so much. The large is for when I'm wearing a baselayer, midlayer and thick wool sweater--the sweater is super bulky but necessary for some activities and doesn't quite fit comfortably in the medium jacket and nobody likes constricted armpits. I've scraped this jacket along ice, metal, sharp things and it has not damaged the exterior. I've sat out for hours in a zodiac in crazy sleet and the only wet that got through was via the eye port. The pockets are HUGE HUGE HUGE, from the bottom of the jacket to the clavicles. You could probably fit a small baby in each pocket. The only con is that it makes you look like a giant marshmallow, particularly if you have the pockets filled, haha.

Thanks for your super helpful review, Jen!

absolutely love my Rab Valence Hooded Down Jacket!!! It is super warm and fits me very well. I normally wear a medium, so that's what I ordered and it's perfect. I also have proportionally larger hips compared to my medium upper body, and amazingly enough, it fits comfortably at the bottom too! I also love the waterproof exterior, as it is also more durable for day to day wear, and doesn't seem to get holes as easily as my other down jackets have. The hood has great adjustments and has a lip on top, keeping the rain off my face. My only complaint is that there is no outside zippered breast pocket, so I have to open my jacket to get to my chapstick.

Ladies, this is the jacket to have in your arsenal. In the backcountry I usually opt for my Mammut shell jacket and layer accordingly underneath. But, this jacket offers more substantial warmth between yourself and the elements. When they say it's windproof, that is an understatement. This jacket is full-on bomb proof. It fits true to size allowing for thinner layers underneath. I wouldn't say this is a super packable jacket for extended backcountry touring, but if you pack fewer PB&J's, this will fit in your pack just fine. Standing on the summit in this jacket in hurricane force winds just became enjoyable!

Ladies,

Hi Vanessa! I am considering this jacket. Can't find this color anywhere in stock...looks purple in some photos and dark pink others. Wondering if you can comment on that! Appreciate your thorough review. Thanks.

So warm!

I bought this for my mom for Christmas. She absolutely loves it. She tells me every time I talk to her about how warm it is. She also really loves the color.

Amazing jacket

This is the best jacket I own. It’s incredibly warm and waterproof. It’s very expensive but worth every penny! It’s also a nice cut and fashionable.
