Nucleus Fleece Hooded Jacket

Stay warm during your most demanding vertical pursuits with the Rab Women's Nucleus Fleece Hooded Jacket. Its stretchy, mid-weight fleece traps your body heat and wicks sweat away from your baselayers for lasting warmth and dryness, and fits seamlessly under a shell or over a baselayer, making it a mid-layer you'll reach for over and over again. The under-helmet hood adds to the technical nature of the piece, keeping your ears and head warm underneath your climbing helmet, while the full-length zipper makes for easy layering and allows you to let some cool air in if things heat up on your hike to the base of your chosen route.

  • Mid-weight fleece jacket for the wall or the trail
  • Stretchy fleece with grid backing traps your body heat
  • Wicking material transports moisture away from skin
  • Under-helmet hood fits seamlessly under your head protection
  • Full-length zipper makes venting easy when things heat up

Good features, poor fabric quality

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Love the cozy warmth of this fleece layer, and it moves well with me for climbing on chilly days. Can wear a baselayer or two under it, and still fit my harness over everything without bulk. Hood is great for wind or light rain, and the half zip makes it easy on and off. I'm extremely disappointed by the quality of the fabric though. After a single wear, there was excessive pilling on the chest, forearms and armpits. I'm not body smearing on rock here, simply belaying and crossing my arms to chat between climbs caused this. I bought it to use as a technical layer but after a few wears I know the fabric is going to disintegrate, and I can't imagine what a washing machine would do to it.

I wear this not just for camping and running but also in my freezing commute every morning. Its super comfortable and pretty stylish. Highly recommended this product.

I bought this when I realized I was short of technical tops for a back country week in Canada, and discovered that the new Patagonia midweight fabric is really uncomfortable. I don't wear merino because of skin sensitivity so there aren't a lot of choices right now, especially if you want some anti-odor treatment built in. The fabric is silky enough to easily slide outer layers over and the fit is quite nice, but I haven't used it more than twice yet so I can't speak to the comment about pilling from 2 years ago; maybe the fabric has been changed.
