Not fit for purpose
I bought this as an upgrade to my microlight Alpine Jacket. Unfortunately I have found that the insulation on this product tends to clump together leaving large areas un insulated. I have followed the manufacturers instructions on how to resolve this however it keeps on happening. Never had this issue with my previous down jacket. I cannot wear this jacket at all in low temperatures at all.

Really good fit, very warm,
Really good fit, very warm, wind proof and some waterproof. A smart jacket for the open hill and to wear as smart casual for the evening. Our son really likes his Christmas present.

Lovely jacket just leaks
The jacket fits lovely it's one of the first padded down type jackets I have found I can wear (I am a little tubby in the middle) Love warm it keeps me can go on a nice long walk with just a technical t-shirt underneath . My one and only issue is the lack of waterproofness went for a walk earlier today in what I would class as light rain 45 minute walk and water was getting through the jacket to my layer below .

Best Insulation. Poor on everything else.
Pros: In high wind with -15'c wind chill, it still keeps you warm when used in conjunction with the layering system. Ok for your lunch too when sat around for 20min in these conditions. Can stay stationary for absolute hours in 8'c with wind and will still be warm and not feel the wind. Cons: Velcro on wrists falls apart and don't always hold. The cords around the waist come undone more less right away when pulled up which is then pointless for keeping heat in. Hood Velcro not very effective and also comes off. Why put the hood cords on the inside... grate idea but not practical, please move to the outside. Hand pocket zip cords need to be bigger for when using gloves....

Performance of a down jacket without the price
First and foremost is the fit: The sleeves and overall length are on point, however, this is definitely a slim fit. If you're a bigger guy I recommend sizing up. Performance: I bought this jacket because I wanted a heavier insulated jacket that would perform well in wet weather (a big flaw with even the best down jackets is that they soak up water easily and provide little warmth). This jacket definitely performs well in both wet and dry conditions and it does a great job of keeping out the wind and light rain or snow (although it will eventually wet out in heavy or prolonged exposure to rain). I could easily wear this jacket with a simple long sleeve shirt into the 20s or 30s. I cant speak to its longevity but based on how my other Rab products have held up so far, I am expecting to get some good years out of it.
