Great All Around Winter Activities Glove
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
I bought these gloves for a week long skiing and ice climbing trip in Vermont. I looked at similar guide gloves from Marmot and Black Diamond. I chose the Rab because I own a few of their products and have been impressed with their quality and durability. I chose the short cuff because I thought they would be more versatile and the Rab long guide glove doesn't have a draw string to cinch down the cuff. The gloves are well constructed, very warm, and look great. I've skied in them when the temperature was 18F. No issues. Hands were warm and dry the entire day. I think these gloves would be great for single digit temperatures but anything below that and you might have to add liners. I haven't had a chance to use the gloves ice climbing yet but they may be slightly too bulky. The gloves are pretty dextrious for skiing but for ice climbing I'll bring these and another thinner pair of glvoes just in case. My hand size is 8.5 which is the top range for a size medium. I ordered a size large. I'm glad I did. The size large was slightly snug but has since stretched to fit my hand perfectly. I definitely didn't want tight fitting gloves for winter use. Overall I'm very happy with these gloves. If the long term durability of these gloves is as great as everything else then I'll update my review with 5 stars.
