Why We Like The Rab Aeon Ultra 28L Backpack
Made for the true mountain goats out there, the Rab Aeon Ultra 28L Backpack is the ultimate pack for speed hikers, fast-packers, and mountain runners. We like the lock-down fit with the body-hugging Air Contour X back system, wrap-around hip belt, and dual sternum straps keeping our load stable and close to body for less slipping and bouncing on technical terrain. For those of us who don't like to stop, the Aeon Ultra has a series of accessible stash pockets on the hip belt and harness, so we literally can grab our flasks, snacks, gels, lip balm, and devices on the run. It's just the right size for all-day endurance challenges, hut-to-hut hikes with ultralight gear, and long-distance routes where we're packing emergency clothing and a minimalist sleep system, such as a tarp or bivy.

Best purchase of the year
I am to use this backpack until it can no more. It's perfect! I'm 5'4 tall, 50kg heavy and this pack got me through a 90 mile (7 day) hike without shoulder pain. It's got straps on the shoulders that'd bring the backpack closer to my back, no packs I ever had before had this, and I had never been so comfortable. That being said, it could get tighter, but I am simply very small. Despite its lightness, this thing is strong. I stuffed all I could in the elastics, capacity of 28litres is probably an understatement and the main was also full to the brims. After this first hike, partner is now buying his first RAB backpack for our next one, next month :)

I think it is a great pack and has many top qualities, my only small issue is the fastening of the chest straps. I think they would have been better with the push together and click fasteners, other than that, great pack.

Fantastic Pack
I have used a lot of different packs over the years, and this has to be the best thought through pack I have come across. It has all the little features that you need, like the shoulder strap and hip pockets, the unique should strap approach, pulling tha pack into your back, and the three mesh pockets for overspill/quick access to kit. I used it recently for a walk down the French and Spanish coast, and it never let me down, day after day. So comfortable, and able to cope with all the asks made of it. Defintely recommend.

Great pack
Great all round day pack I’ve used it to do Ben Nevis via CMD held enough gear for the day and I’ve run a good few miles in as well very stable pack. Only dislike is the sternum straps I have a broad chest and the clips work loose def not a deal breaker though

Ideal fast and light multi day pack.
Overall I'm very happy with my aeon ultra 28, it swallows my lightweight 2 season sleeping bag, thermarest neo air X lite, durston X mid 2p solid, walking poles, insulated jacket, pillow, spare base layers/hooded fleece , cook set etc with plenty of room for water carrying etc. The inner pocket is ideal for a small first aid/emergency kit. I bought the Rab soft flask which is very comfortable compared to a hard bottle in the right hand chest harness pocket. The only gripe I have (hence the 4 stars) is the sternum strap attachment clips....they are constantly sliding up and unclipping themselves, slapping me in the chest or stomach. The lower strap in particular suffers with this problem, please Rab...remedy this problem. I have added a webbing daisy chain on the inner edge of the chest harness straps so I can attach my custom omm chest pack, if Rab included these they could use a more secure attachment system similar to what Montane use, which would also make it easier for the user to repair in the field as opposed to the sliding rail system. If Rab sort this problem, I'll give the pack 5 stars.

Really loving this as my new everyday rucksack, runcommute pack and general outdoors daysack / overnight bag
I'm really enjoying this pack. I used to use a running rucksack from another well-known running brand but was looking for something exactly like this - a simple chest rig on the front for essentials, good hip pockets, and a simple back compartment that can hold a decent amount of kit. This has it all. I use it for running home from work when it can carry a laptop, my clothes and shoes easily. It's also perfect for days out in the countryside. It's also perfect for those with children. Mine is usually filled with water bottles, snacks, gloves, hats, all conveniently stashed in the super stretchy side and back pockets - these for me were one of the key draws to this rucksack - loads of space for all those things you just need to quickly stuff somewhere and avoid the faff of constantly opening your main compartment, plus, it keeps the wet stuff outside and the stuff inside dry! It has a nice sleek design, even with the stuff pockets in use, and just looks smart, so it's been suitable for taking to and from work and things aren't flapping around all over the place. The chest rig is good, and very versatile. My only comment would be that as smaller man, with a 36" chest and 29" waist, this doesn't do up as tight as I'd like. When it's laden down, it's actually fine, but when it's quite empty, it's fine walking, but doesn't quite feel as snug as I'd like when running.
