Great day pack - but
We tried a few different day packs before choosing the Ultra 20. It seemed to offer the most comfortable fit and waterproof design but there are design flaws. The system for holding walking poles is clearly an afterthought, no-one would, or could, seriously attach walking poles with the flimsy string provided. If you attach them as per the video they are poking out under your armpits and you have to walk holding your arms out, the string also comes undone, better to just cut it off. Whoever 'designed' that needs a talking to. So the only option is to put the poles in the side mesh pockets, but this limits the use for carrying other items. The roll-top main pocket is great for keeping things dry but the pack would have benefitted from another pocket to carry items you need faster or regular access to. Un-rolling and re-rolling the top of the main pouch quickly becomes a chore, the mesh pocket at the front is ok for a hat but not much else. It also feels like there are just too many straps. These are not shown in the video and photos bu the pack offers so much adjustment - a good thing for a better fit - that there are straps everywhere.
