Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Had never used poles for walking before, assumed that knees < 30 years old do not need them. Customarily, a certain 14-mile out-and-back hike (min elev 9,200, max elev 13,700) without poles induced knee pain half-way up, persistent and worsening on the descent. With poles, no pain at all. Actually just with one pole, two was unwieldy. Probably any pole would have been adequate. The shock absorber elastomer only engages if you try to use the pole as a pogo stick. Useless feature, so four stars for the unnecessarily inflated price.
