I have both this shoe and the GTX version, the Firetail, which is the slightly beefier, waterproof version of it. I got the Firetail when I was looking to move out of a hiking boot and into a hiking shoe. I have an old running injury in my right foot, and a physical therapist I've seen for years thought I would hike better in a trail running shoe. So -- with Laurel in CS' really helpful input, I tried the Firetail on a hiking trip and it performed great in a variety of weather conditions, incline/declines, etc. For people with narrow feet or a narrow part of your feet, the lacing helps you get a snug but not binding feel, and no foot movement in the shoe where they shouldn't. For summer, I am wearing the Fire Vent for daily dog walking, etc, it's so comfortable! I bought 1/2 size up from my street shoe size.
