Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Fit: True to size
Height: 5' 8"
Weight: 200 lbs
Size Purchased: XL

It's a classic jacket - style and fit. Looks good with wither a dress/causal sport shirt. When washed and dry, it comes out smooth and crisp, as a pose to how it's shipped. For me, the fit is relax [I got the XL after reading reviews the says it runs small] and a bit long in the sleeves and somewhat loose at the bottom and as well as the cuffs. I'm a 5'8 with a beer and steak tummy, so the XL works well for that - though it's still loose there. I got the Black for cool days and nights - a sweater and a flannel shirt WOULD certainly work for cold days/nights. My ONLY problem is, the jacket is way over priced with zero interior lining, such as flannel or a light weight fleece, and also given where it is made for that price range. Other brands, like that famous L in Maine have a similar jacket for half the price.

This current version and 2014 version of this jacket is..... rather U G L Y. I STILL have an old 2000? version that is BEAUTIFULLY made - looks, feels and fit great. What happened to North Face? I do not understand [why] they have to "update" this jacket when the early 2000 version was the best, all around.

I really dislike this one - a bit oversized, the look and fabric feels cheap, collar not as wide, a bit too long, sleeves are large towards the cuffs, overall fit ..... something left to be desire.

Sad. Anyone who want a free jacket (L)? It's passed 30 days for return.................

Here's what I think of this jacket: I blame The North Face for their constant changing/designing and using of fabrics that are questionable, such as this current jacket which is REALLY "true to size" and long(er) sleeves. I'm not puzzle as to why North Face made the sleeves longer and it is about 2.5" longer???

This is my second one, just a size up from the 2012 version that was made with recycled polyester - horrible. It sheds, pills, attracts and shows every little piece dust/hair/cat fur, you name it...

However, it is STILL a great jacket as it fits well, but with a guy with a small belly, it is not so great as it is a bit TOO fitted around the belly area, so you might want to get a size up. Those center lines, above the pockets, REALLY shows/hit where the fat is, so not so great. Washing and drying should get it a bit smaller IF it is too large.

I already have one, so I'm getting a second one - up one size as this jacket is True to Size. If you have a bit of a belly, go up a size. I love the causal look and lightness of this jacket. I wear the old one almost anywhere when the temperature is above 50 on the east coast. It is also a great jacket for hitting the gym when you don't want a bulky top and also I find that it keeps me body warm enough for running outside in the cooler weather, such as in the Fall and Spring.
