Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Took a pair of these out on multi-week trip during Oct - Nov.

My hands run warm and I found them to be just right for the 15-25 degree temps encountered, all while providing great dexterity for manipulating ropes and handling tools. The leather feels almost tacky on rocks and ice and I really liked how there's nearly no slip between the gloves and my palms.

The leather does wet out though and my biggest gripe is that they'll bleed dye all over your hands when they do. I spent at least 5 days with blue/black palms, eating blue/black sandwiches and left blue/black prints all over my otherwise brightly colored gear.

I'd recommend hand washing these once or twice before taking them out.

Stiff, responsive, and frail

The forward lean adjusters on these have a tendency to break off. The first went within a few days on the snow, the second went somewhere between the 35th and 40th day this season.

Otherwise, super comfortable straps, very light, stiff, and responsive. Union's customer support remains top-notch, but it seems their higher-end products could do with a bit more stress testing before hitting production (had problems with the MC Metafuse as well - I scavenged the highbacks off a broken set to replace the ones on the Charger, visible in the photo).

Steer clear of the 2012 MC Metafuse

Featherweight, extremely comfortable, and fragile.

The heelcup snapped completely off my left binding while I was riding, and on inspection, my right binding looks like it's about to give as well.

Though I got 8 responsive and comfortable days of riding on them before the binding gave (leaving me tumbling down a hill, disoriented and confused), I'd expect bulletproof reliability for the premium bucks spent. Union is great about warranties but I doubt I'll risk using the replacement I get considering the frequency with which these things seem to break (based on similar reviews and experiences).
