I was trying to decide between a legitimate lightweight backpacking stove and the ultralight homemade alcohol stoves that I've been messing with and decided I might as well go for the real thing to see how it feels in the pack and how well it burns. Well, let me tell you something - this thing boils water fast (3-4 minutes on high) compared to the alcohol stoves (about 6 minutes) and the weight savings isn't that noticeable in my pack. I use a Golite Jam for my overnight pack and the added weight between the canister and this stove compared to the soda can stove and the alcohol is worth the difference in performance to me. I can put a Jetboil canister, a Sea to Summit fold-able titanium spork, and the GigaPower stove all in my Snow Peak Ti 700 cup and it makes for an outstanding lightweight cook kit. I've had no trouble with the wind since I was able to put the stove on the leeward side of a log while cooking and lighting the stove is no problem with a Bic. Unless you are trying to shave off every ounce at the detriment of comfort, I would highly recommend this stove - top notch.
