Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Fit: True to size
Height: 5' 6"
Weight: 165 lbs
Size Purchased: Large

I haven't had a chance to try it on the slopes but my first impression is that is has everything I'll need. I'll update my review once I've worn it a few times.
I had a bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction and my chest gets really cold quite easily so my current shell (not enough room for laying) doesn't work for cold days.

I was looking for a shell I could wear either a fleece or down midlayer under or a lightly insulated jacket that would need a baselayer. I tried a couple other technical shells but decided this was a good fit since I have another shell for warmer days. Even with the light insulation i can still wear my packable down on the really cold days. Whether or not I need any additional layers is TBD.

based on the description and some of the reviews I was really excited for this jacket. However, the fit was WAY off for me. I am consistently a size M (8) shirt (34DD) and 10 pants and have size M or L jackets based on their purpose.
I tried a large so I could layer underneath. It fit over my hips, which is usually the trouble spot for me with jackets so I didn't expect this to be so snug through the armpits and chest. The fabric, detailing, pockets and length are all great but there is no way I could wear this. I tried it with a long sleeve T and there is no way I'd be able to layer as it was close to impossible for me to move my arms around. The top (shoulder chest area) felt like a size S and the bottom ( waist through hip) of the jacket was true to size.

I had a bilateral mastectomy and reconstruction a few years ago and ever since my chest gets very cold and achy with even the slightest chill. I have another very basic Marmot black shell I use for spring resort skiing with a light midlayer when the chance of a chill isn't as likely. I wanted a jacket I could comfortably add mid layers with more pockets (specifically in the chest area to store hand warmers), powder skirt and helmet compatible hood. This has it all and fits over my hips and shoulders and I can wear both my mid layers and a down jacket underneath for the very cold days. Only downside is I can't see wearing this on it's own. It's too loose and baggy alone and I'd definitely feel the breeze without a midlayer. I worry about going down in a size because I don't see myself being able to layer if I get a M. I ordered the Marmot Lightray Insulated jacket at the same time and kept that instead.

I don't think I have a weird shaped head but after trying on every helmet in every ski shop in town I realized I'm either REALLY picky or my head it weird. most helmets were too wide on the sides of my head and too tight on the front and back of my head. Also, the ear pieces of most helmets are set fairly far back and didn't cover my ears. Regardless, this helmet fit like a glove!!! i stay warm, the venting is nice, and the fit is PERFECT! finally!
