Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I have not used the pack in the rain yet but it is nice to be able to set the pack down in snow and not be concerned with it getting wet or the contents.
It rides comfortably on the shoulders (I am 5.6/female).
This is my first pack without a padded waist belt so I was concerned it might be uncomfortable, but it is not. However the belt does move around and slide up above my hips. So I have to re position the belt often.
I selected the Shark color so the next comments may not apply to the other pack colors. The carry loops are the same color as the pack and hard to see. They are also tiny, which makes it hard with gloves on, let alone mittens. It would be better if they were a contrasting color to the pack and functional in size.
I find it bothersome to NOT have a hip belt pocket. I have attached a Granite Gear zipped belt pocket to get small items such as granola bar, chap stick.
The most disappointing missed feature is a valuables pocket (wallet, keys, phone) that could have been located under the lid. I find it inconvenient to not have this feature to safely secure these items.
I also attached stretch cord to the outside/backside to let a rain jacket dry out while hiking.
All this said, I hope the pack plays out well for summer peak scrambles.
