Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Fit: True to size
Height: 5' 4"
Weight: 128 lbs
Size Purchased: 2

These pants are different -- boyfriend-like capris, I'd call them. They're cut roomy, but they're still flattering. They fit nicely around the hips and butt and slimmer in the leg, but they're not constricting in any way. I'm 5'4" and 128 pounds and the 2 fits great after stretching out a bit (which they do). Unrolled, they hit just at the ankle. They're not the type of pants I would ordinarily buy, but I love them so much I'm ordering more. The burnt caramel was my first pick and it's a lovely fall color. Next buy's going to be the weathered blue.

I guess I thought "low-profile welded belt loops" meant low-rise, but it does not. These pants rise up past my belly button, and have a matronly fit through the hips. Nothing wrong with them otherwise; they seem very well made. But I hated the fit.

Prana's convertible pant seems to be the only one for me. I've sent back five others now.

If they made these pants in seven colors, I would own all of them. Instead, I have to settle for just two. I never want to take them off. They're super flattering on my (5'5", 125, size 6), just the right length, sturdily made and with just enough give. I wear them for hiking, dog training, camping -- just about anything. I can imagine they'll get a little warm in the summer (the fabric is thick), but for Southern California in the spring, they're ideal.

I wanted to love these pants. They're super soft and well made. And I could deal with the pants being say too long (I'm 5'5" with a 31-inch inseam). But the big gap in the back around the waist was too much for me.

Only Prana's convertible pant seems to be working for me in the hiking pant department. I'll look forward to what Backcountry gets in stock in the next round. More Arc'teryx, I hope.
