I was leery about these pants. The reviews suggested that they might not hold up to even “normal” wear. Not the case. I wear them like work khakis, but do stress them a little more than casual slacks. I’ve worn them probably ten times, and washed and dried them three. They are up to the task.

They are a very light and airy alternative to shorts. The coolest long pants that I have on the shelf. The granite color is unlike anything else I own and goes with almost everything. The fit is as good as it gets for my bird legs. Not loose, not skinny. I’m pleased with the purchase.

The negatives: very shallow front pockets. All I put in them is a key-fob. The side drop-ins are decent. Hold my IPhone 7 in an OtterBox.

The other issue, which kind of comes with the territory with this material, is that they stain, and it sticks. Little bit of brake dust and grease and it looks like it’ll be there for the duration. Gives them character, though. I bought two more colors.

I'm not a climber, but I have a job that requires a fair amount of unrestricted movement, sometimes at a moment's notice. So...the size was on the money. 36 Long was a generous 36 waist and 34 inseam. The fit was slightly looser than I expected, but not "relaxed." Maybe the most crossover-casual of my climbing pants. The Urban Jungle color was fine. I was afraid it might be gaudy or unnatural but far from it. I've worn them in 80 degree temps and they were comfortable. It does get to be 95 here so I have my doubts about that. I'm giving them 4 out of 5 for relative lack of stretch. They are nowhere nearly as elastic as Zions, Quandrys or Ferrosis. The gusset, knee darts and fit still made up for the slight rigidity. If stretch is not crucial to you, these stack up with any of them. They were a good addition to the stable, and I would add another pair, especially if they added a stone, taupe or very light khaki. As it is, I'm all full up in blue, grey, green and tan. A solid purchase.

I loved the fit and feel of the Zion pants but found them just slightly too billowy from the knees down. Enter: the Zioneers. Same material, but a trimmer fit. I prefer the symmetrical back pockets of the Zioneer and can live without the two-zip cargo pocket. Unlike others, I rate the Zioneers as a little more casual than Zions, what with the "jeans" 5 pocket styling, vs the slash pockets. But, I have casual dress, chinos and khakis galore. These dress up just enough to make do in most settings. It's still too soon to speak to their durability or how they perform in 90 degree, 80 % humidity that we get in July, but I have plan B for that too.. All in all, I'm very pleased. Great look and feel. Give me more colors and I'll buy them.
