Chuk Iwrote a review of Red Wing Heritage 6-Inch Iron Ranger Boot - Men's on March 25, 2017
Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Fit: True to size
I tried these boots on in a RW store before purchasing online. My feet measured on a brannock device L 13D / R 13.5D. I sized down to an 11.5 with space to freely wiggle my toes but it felt too snug on the sides with thin socks so I knew they wouldn't work with medium wool. I ended up going with a 12 which fits perfect. I originally thought of getting 13s but I knew they would be too sloppy all around based on other reviews I read from my big footed brothers on the web.
When you're trying on shoes you just know what feels right so go with that not what you can cram your foot into for the sake of sizing down and hoping it will stretch.
I marked them true to size because boots/dress shoes are our true shoe sizes while sneakers are cut "smaller" making sizing larger because of thick insoles; padding;cushioning that makes them comfortable for sport.
These are great looking Boots that will break and wear nicely. Very versatile color. I swapped out the factory laces with longer flat waxed dark gray laces for some pop. I would say they fit comfortable out of the box. i wore them for 7hours after getting them in the mail and they felt so good with thick wool socks on.
Received lots of comments on them.
