Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

This is my first time trying Altra. My regular trail runner is Pearl Izumi, amazing runners, but unfortunately they exited out of trail runner biz this year, which has forced me to find alternatives.

Ordered a pair here for $62. Great price. Two issues I have found with Altra Lone Peak 3.0 as soon as I put them on in my living room.

First, unlike Pearl Izumi, I find the sole is way too soft for me, which just can't give me any real sense of surface conditions.

Secondly, totally unlike Pearl Izumi, the absence of some type of arch on the toe box causes the fabrics tend to fold quite a bit even when I was walking on my area rugs. And what is even worse for me is that create a pinch on my right foot for every step.

Another minor issue is that I find its toebox way too big and wide, which definitely is not suitable for someone like me who has narrow feet, because it can create blisters easily because of swimming toes there.

Overall it has great workmanship. Being made in China, not Vietnam or Cambodia, gives another level of product quality. The buildin Velcro and loop for gaiter use is another great touch. Dont know about its durability tho.

Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
Fit: Runs large
Height: 5' 7"
Weight: 135 lbs
Size Purchased: Small

Just received the pants today, so my review is about neither its warmth nor its breathablity because I don't have right weather to evaluate its performance. Right out of the box, the Size Small weights 10.7 oz or 303g. The Polartec Alpha Direct material dangles on its own layer because only the top and bottom are sewn to the back side of Pertex Microlight face fabric. As a result, it's a bit difficult for me to put it on either with or without wearing a baselayer, such as OR Sequence Tights. One thing for sure is you just simply can't put it on or take it off without taking your shoes first.

The pants is definitely not a slim fit and it's bit baggy. Actually I think its fit is somewhere between OR standard and Relaxed fit. I can wear a Sequence tights and Prana Stretch Zion pants under neath it. At the bottom of the legs there are 13" zippers. And I think they should be full length zippers so they can not only make it more breathable but also make it easier to put it on and take it off with or without shoes/boots. Without layers the pants is loose around the waist and two small elastic bands can't hold tight. Want to use belt? Good luck with that. It ain't got any loops for that. Tho there are three suspender loops if you want to do suspender. It's not a particularly mid-layer to me at all. So it's going back.

It uses the same fabric that Patagonia Tropic Comfort II Hooded Shirt uses, and even the color that I picked is the same as my Tropic Comfort II, which is why I give it two stars. This thing only has one size but I normally wear medium hat. So I figured it would fit me when I ordered it. However, this thing is too big and loose to stay on my head/ face. I can imagine how miserable I'll be wearing it on a boat that's sailing. Sorry but I sent it back right away.
