For me top priority is fit. I'm 5'10" 145 29w x 32ins, many mainline rain jackets in S are very baggy and boxy on me, some of them are even now offering XS which just fit poorly on a semi-athletic build. This jacket actually fits like a S. The hood doesn't come down over the eyes but still provides coverage and stays in place. Armholes are slightly high but i prefer to have the pit vents open which frees up the perfect amount of room.

The pants are great, material is comfortable and seems durable. Best part is they actually fit like pants should. I see a lot of reviewers whining about how small they are, it's just not true. It's more a problem that almost all other pants out there are sized incorrectly large. I wear a true size 30 and that is what these are, not a label size 30 that comes and is somewhere between a 32 and a 34, its a real 30.

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I picked up one of these from a local shop at a bit of a discount, which was the only price i'd have been willing to pay. It's a fun bike set up as 27.5+ but for my riding style the geometry and spacing of it led to a noted increase in pedal strikes. I've since put 29" wheels on it which cooled off the pedal strikes, it's also now set up as a single speed. It is a decent bike for SS'ing, it only gets a decent rating as the 'swinging' dropouts are prone to slipping. Yes i've tightened the hell out of the bolts on the dropouts but they still slip. Also, thinking about swinging vs sliding dropouts ... in a swinging dropout your wheel isn't connected directly to the frame, rather the dropout only. Sliding dropouts leave your wheel still connected to the frame. Worth mentioning because the further the dropout (thus the wheel and brake) move from the frame, the more vibration is created under certain braking loads. Ultimately, i wish i had gone with a bike with sliding dropouts, i just cant see the benefit of the swinging style. So if you plan to go SS, i would recommend looking at a different bike. If you want to stay as a geared hardtail, there are better deals without such large brand name premiums.

First issue, they fit like skinny jeans. if you want the cuff of your pants to go over a pair of shoes, do not buy these. Second, the back pockets have no closure (velcro, zipper, button etc) so these don't give a sense of security for wallets etc. Third the stretch is almost non-existent. I am a 30 and had to order a 28 to get the right fit in my bottom. Not recommended. Craghoppers are infinitely superior.
