I've been researching breathability for jackets and midlayers, running / skiing in cold climate but getting very sweaty.. In shells its easier as they list like 20k/15k but in base and mid layers we dont seem to have metrics, just "highly breathable" so what does that mean. I just bought this an ran in the cold with this and a OMM shell 26k/26k. This was the best Ive found for moisture management. Just ordered another one. I also bought the haglof siljan from BC for urban parka with 20k/15k. it was the only parka that long with good performance

First I'm an individual customer with a genuine review - I wanted a highly breathable warm long Parka to walk in NYC. Ski Jackets are very technical, they breathe so when you work up a sweat it escapes through the fabric. Walking in NYC, trust me, you're sweating, particulalry when you go in a cab or indoors. . You will see this jacket is rated 20k/15k . That means 20k rain and windproof, 15k breathable rating. The best ski jackets on the planet are maybe 26k/26k so this Parka is VERY good. The problem for me is ski jackets are too short - I wanted a mid thigh parka, this one in 39" center back length. This was the only one I found on the market. However, there was no mention of the breathability of the lining. There is no point having a 15k outer shell breathability and a regular polyester lining that doesnt breath. I contacted Haglof, even they had to search for this data but its a polartec liner in the upper area - this is the best breathable liner on the market. lower liner is taffetta which is also breathable. The insulation, Quad is also very technical and breathable. I did find a parka shell (no insulation, no liner, you need to wear a mid layer) but it was 3" too short. The big name brand parkas we all see people wearing..not waterproof and not breathable - . thats a $1000 to look trendy but sweaty - not for me and I dont want that stupid badge on my arm either
