Familiarity: I've used it several times
I bought this before a week+ trip to SoCal, including hiking and scrambling in Joshua Tree NP, beach days, theme parks, etc. It's a great all around 30L bag. I like the organization pockets. The front slash pocket is small but handy. The top fleece lined goggle pocket was large enough for my noise canceling head phones and neck pillow, plus bars, and other small items during air travel. The little stash zipper pocket inside that was good for cables, tickets, etc. Laptop sleeve doubled as a hydration sleeve. I used a 40oz Nalgene in the side water bottle pocket at it held snug full and empty. Great materials, the rubberized main exterior held up with minimal wear against lots of rocks in JTNP.
I'm 6'1" and 220lbs, pretty broad shoulders, I felt the fit was comfortable and adjustable enough. I really liked the dense foam back panel but it got a bit warm while hiking/scrambling hard. The compression straps are nice but the buckles aren't super one hand friendly. And I like it when they're on the other side of the zipper, i.e. don't have to unbuckle to unzip. I'd have preferred the the shoulder strap padding was the same density as the back panel, it feels little lighter, but wasn't uncomfortable. Also there's no shoulder strap adjustment on top. Lastly the main compartment is basically split in two 50/50. The half against your back has the laptop sleeve and two more organizer pockets, the half away from the back is open. I think a 80/20 split (smaller against the back) would be a better use of the space but it's a fairly minor complaint. I wound up folding my puffer jacket and putting it in the closer to the back compartment to help even things out.
The full clam shell opening system is awesome, I like panel loader bags for travel. It makes packing cubes and clothes much easier in my opinion.
Overall I think it's an awesome do all bag and a great value. I had and returned a Cotopaxi Allpa 28 prior to buying this.
