Familiarity: I've used it several times

Im always skeptical about gear and price points.....dropping $400 on a 20F sleeping bag is for sure not my regular gig. After experiencing many 3 and 4 season sleeping bags this was a keeper. Prior the SB I try Sierra Designs Zizzou and i was cold at 30 degrees. Beyond the technology the features of the SB are well thought with a hood and footbox that repels moisture..
Is lightweight @ 2lb and extremely warm....I used the bag at 22 degress while doing the Inca Trail at 9000 feet of elevation and i was warm using a synthetic vest and hindi base layer pants.

Is rarely you can find a lightweight and quality tent for this price.
To be bluntly honest i was a little concern but again the price gain me over. I had multiple solo tents from msr, north face, mountain hardware and other brands , more expensive and heavier.
The trail weight of the tent is 2lb and 7oz lighter than the MSR Hubba which retails 3 times the price.
The interior of the tent is big enough for a 6'4 person with room to spare on the side for additional items and you can fully sit up thanks to the 42" interior height.
The mesh provides plenty ventilation for no condensation just make sure the tent is properly taut otherwise the fly be directly on the mesh above your head. The side entrance roll up mesh panel makes a difference since the vestibule is not large enough for cooking but the design on the fly allows you to insert a trekking pole by releasing one of the clip attachments creating an awning under the rain.
I had this tent under 6" of snow with all guidelines attach and had almost no condensation inside and no damage to the 8.8mm poles. (thats really impressive for a 3 season tent)
This tent is a super bargain...the only con is the one way zipper at the entrance which if you are not careful will get stuck in the interior flap.

Fit: Runs small

I just received a pair. I'm all iced in texas. Early today I took a walk And slip all over the place, so as soon as they arrive I walk the same icy slippery roads (6 blocks) of sleet and the traction of the soles are impeccable. the fit feels a lot like your typical toms, highly breathable with max comfort and plenty protection.
Note: order 1/2 bigger they are a true size fit.
They are super light, perfect for small hikes and perfect for camp base after the trail.

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This tent is well design, top materials and still way cheaper than competitors! Vestibules are huge and the tent fits 2 adults plus a kid! Make sure to use the guidelines to reinforce the tent but also to separate the rain fly from body so condensation does not accumulate! I have tested this tent several times all during the winter in Texass under heavy winds, low 10's and lots of humidity! This tent has perform a lot better than the expensive brands! If I need a winter tent anytime soon my first option will be ALPS! Is a little heavy for backcountry but weight can be split in 2 and you have a Bombproof! A must have.

Is the perfect crossover tent, 3/4 season with plenty room and easy access. The stargaze option is like anything i seen before. Has a lot of vents and if you know the basics about condensation will NOT accumulate any. Is my first mountain hardwear and im beyond impress! The past weekend we camp near Wichita mountains next to a lake, completely open field; temperature drop unexpectedly to 30 degrees with high winds of 27-35mph. The performance of the tent using the guidelines was immaculate, did not move, solid as a rock and pretty warm considering humidity of the shore! No condensation, no flapping, my wife and me slept like babies!
