Familiarity: I've used it several times

I used this thing to rap from el cap tower and it worked perfectly, when tied to a 10.3ish mm rope. Also used it for rapping in rmnp, and a couple of other times. Personally wouldn't want to rap with smaller diameter than this, simply to avoid excessive rope running through rings with the knot on the thick rope side, and extra stretch when pulling when the knot is on the skinny side. Mostly great.

Only reason for -1 star is it is not exceptionally affordable, or durable (has signs of wear after not tons of use).

Past experience, for reference: I've spent a good amount of time filtering water in the past 10 years, using katadyn tabs, msr aquatabs, steri pen, aquamira, and an msr pump filter.

I've used this product to filter 25-50 liters so far and haven't gotten sick.

The ease and speed of use, and taste of the filtered water, make this product life changing for me. Steripens are a good idea but I don't like relying on batteries. I use this thing all the time and plan to use it for every adventure except for ultralight trips, in which case I'll use the msr tabs.

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This harness shines when you need to rack up for trad climbs because of the extra gear loops, and it's supposed to be more padded and comfortable. It has been my go-to harness for all outdoor climbing because the bulkiness inspires confidence.

However, I have always been uncomfortable on hanging belays using this guy. For a long time I told myself this is just the nature of hanging belays. But I've been using my tiny little Mammut zepher harness more lately and realized it's suprisingly WAY more comfortable than the big gun while hanging. I don't know if it's just me, my hips might be too small for the large padding on the big gun so that it never sits quite right.

I've taken this out 100 times now and drop it onto sharp rocks all the time = not a scratch on it. The brain compartment has zipper access on either side. Nice rope strap in addition to the main strap. I plan to continue using it for 10 years.

Note: several months into using this bag, one of the shoulder straps broke right off. I took it to the guy next door to Rock and Resole and he sewed it up good for $10 or something, and it's been 100% good since then.

I just received this in the mail and can tell it is worth every penny. I am upgrading from the rei flash 18 which disintegrated quickly after regular multipitch climbing.

Also, let it be known that I usually stay away from patagonia just because it's patagonia. But this bag is extremely good. The material seems very scratch resistant and durable, it has sturdy loops for hanging on anchor, and a rope strap. Perfect.

07172016 update: used on many long routes now. And I'm buying another one. So good! Let it scrape against rock in the chimney on the casual route on the diamond, not a scratch on it. Did I mention the rope strap?

The small size is pleasing, sometimes.

However, sometimes it is too small. For example if you want clip a long cord on it by folding it up, it may not fit inside the biner.

Furthermore, it you can't screw it shut in one motion like a black diamond locker. You have to manually push it 14 pushes with thumb (I counted) to close it

This harness is extremely rad if you can't tell from the pictures, and an incredible deal especially on sale. Bought this as a gym harness, and already took it on a trip because it's so light and packable. 4 stars for comfort. 6 stars for radness.
