Familiarity: I've used it several times

I was looking for a good overall jacket...lightweight, durable, but most of all versatile. Being from Bozeman, MT, where weather extremes can change back and forth daily, I needed something I could put over a hoodie, or more, on chilly days but wear comfortably on its own in a wide degree of temperatures, both in the mountains and around town. This jacket fits the bill perfectly. In the two weeks I've owned it I have used it daily, going to work, around town christmas shopping, hiking Hyalite Reservoir, skiing Big sky, and on a date to a local brewery on a Friday night, and was absolutely comfortable on all occasions. It currently is unusually warm here, so once temperatures drop, it will certainly need to be layered, but I have a winter jacket for that. It is fairly water resistant but not ideal for rain (which we had last night), and I wouldnt use it as a ski jacket unless it was unusually warm like it has been. Overall, the fit is pretty true to size, I am 6'0, 190 athletic build, got a Large and it fits well by itself or overtop a base layer. The jacket is Black Heather, and it is certainly a much lighter grey than the pictures on the site, but that is of no consequence to me. I would say this jacket will be able to handle 75% of my winter activities this year. Overall, if you are looking for a technical jacket that can stand up to deep winter activities, probably not the jacket for you, but a good versatile jacket that will be able to handle a wide range of moderate cold, and be good for light outdoor and backcountry fun.
