Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Fit: True to size
I bought a pair of these 20 years ago in 1996 for a trip to the Himalayas. It was expected that we would be hiking in the mud and cold, and the synthetic shoes I owned back then clearly would not do the job. I spent the $ on these, and after a break in period was pleasantly surprised how well they did in Nepal. I hike a lot locally here in the Pacific Northwet, but do not use these often as I prefer more modern footwear that has stealth rubber soles. Last weekend I had these out for trailwork and it rained almost 2 inches during the day. My feet still stayed dry. Somewhere in between 1996 and now, I stuck in a pair of green Superfeet insoles. Still a dry, comfortable all day boot after 20 years. Buy once, cry once they say.
