Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
Fit: Runs large
Height: 5' 10"
Weight: 165 lbs
Size Purchased: medium

So the website made the jacket look fitted, but when I put on the medium I was swimming in it. My gearhead recommended going down a size but also recommended a thicker and heavier jacket based on my planned trip to Alta, Norway. Ultimately, I went with layering two down jackets, my old Patagonia Synthetic Down and my new Mountain Hardwear Ghost Whisperer Down Jacket.

Nevertheless, I really wanted to like this jacket, but it wasn't meant to be.

So I've been eyeing this jacket for about 3 years waiting for the right price and color. At the end I pulled the trigger because it was a little of both and I was headed to Alta, Norway, Tromso, and Saariselka.

My gearhead recommended the RAB Neutrino over the Ghostwhisperer because we were going to be less active to view the Northern Lights (success!) so we'd need heavier down filling to maintain our warmth. However, I opted to layer on my Patagonia Synthetic down that was beat-up and not as effective as it used to be because packing the RAB for the other half of the trip was too much trouble. Nevertheless, my gearhead was right, the Ghostwhisperer fails at keeping you adequately warm if you're just standing still and I'm wearing Icebreaker base layer, a mid-weight, Patagonia, and then the down jacket in -15 Celsius.

Overall, it's a great jacket for City Folks who travel underground a lot like NYC and they aren't exposed to the elements.

The color and material is really good and it fits really well for straight leg/slim leg folks, but if you have wide hips or beefy thighs you might find this a little tight.
The material and color is so good it can almost pass for 'work' pants on a bad weather day. Overall, it was great on my trip to Scandinavia where we went as far up as Alta, Norway.

Note; I'm wearing the Arc'teryx that I also bought from Backcountry and it was super awesome. Plus, I'm wearing the Ghostwhisperer in the same pic with reviews of it's use to loow.

This Jacket is sleek and fits well. The hood is probably my favorite part of it all and second is the fitted cut of the jacket.

Pros: Hood is perfect; waterproof; breathable; armpit vents; draw-strings are superb;

Concerns (not Cons): Sleeves are a little baggy around the armpit, but not a major issue; a little noisy when moving around, but also not a huge issue.

I bought this for my wife who was extremely skeptical about the jacket at first because it was super light. She wasn't sure it would keep her warm at all, but I told her that she only needs a t-shirt, the Ghost, and her hard-shell (also from Mountain Hardwear) in 26 degrees Fahrenheit NYC weather and she was surprised she had no problems. Keep in mind my wife is naturally on the warmer side, so the entire setup was perfect for her.

You can see the feathers in the jacket, but it simply does the job.

I highly recommend the jacket, but be careful because the outer layer will react to heat quickly, i.e. melt.
