Familiarity: I've used it several times
Fit: True to size
Height: 5' 6"
Weight: 170 lbs
Size Purchased: Small

I never saw the point in softshell jackets because I thought light, Goretex rain gear made them redundant. Now I wear my ROM jacket in wind and light rain, and save my Oracle rain jacket for real precipitation. The ROM is very comfortable, sheds heat (you'll need layers if it's cold,) and seems durable. I don't worry about it de-laminating as even nice rain gear does over time with use.

I bought these to wear under rain pants in hot weather. They feel good, roll up into a tiny ball and don't seem to retain much heat. I haven't sweated in them yet but they seem like they'd wick moisture well. The fly issue from the older version has obviously been resolved and everything is covered, though anatomy hugging. Quality seems high although they're so thin I'm worried about durability.

Buying this jacket for a move to South Korea (Monsoon country) was my first experience with both Marmot and this site. With the Oracle's performance and BC's service I'm sold on both. Because SK has a hot, wet season, what I really needed was a jacket that would keep me warm while shedding as much heat as possible, and the Oracle does that. When Winter comes I'll wear it over my TNF Denali fleece.

Warning: Please be aware that this jacket isn't supposed to be warm at all, and it's not. If your day trip turns into an chilly overnighter, you'll need another layer to keep you warm.
