Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These sandals are much nicer (also cooler?) than basic Chaco's but still durable and hike worthy! Great for wearing around town or short hikes. However, if you wear them and walk more than ~2 miles they can start to pinch where the leather straps cross one another. I wore these on days where I walked all day and by the end of the day, I'd have a gnarly blister on the top of my foot. Haven't had any issues walking shorter distances, but beware. 5 stars still because they do what they were made to do.

I got this pack a few months ago for my day-to-day bike to work, bike to gym, hike to crag, bike home, etc. HOWEVER, I proceeded to use this pack on a 40 day trip across Europe. It was great! I loved having the separate computer pocket that you can access without opening up the backpack, the separate bottom compartment for dirty clothes, and the brain on the top. Because it's not built for backpacking, unsurprisingly it's not very comfortable––the waist belt is thin and so the shoulder straps can be really uncomfortable after a while, but ultimately, its compact design makes up for that. I fit a lot into this pack, and the best part was that it could still slide under the seat in front of my on an airline with heavy baggage restrictions. Now I'm back to the grind, and because it's so simple, this backpack has not been retired to my closet until my next trip.

Run Small, Wear Well.

Familiarity: I've used it several times
Fit: Runs small

I am a huge fan of PrAna pants as they seem to be kinder to girls with athletic legs. These do run a bit small (butt, thighs, you know....) however sizing up would have been problematic because the waist was already a bit gapey. I went with the 6's (my usual size), strapped on a belt, and wore them for a week in Red Rocks. They actually stretched out a bit and were great!

Overall I'm pretty stoked about these pants.

I really wanted to love these shorts, but ultimately returned them. I'm 5'7'' with athletic legs, and these shorts were restrictive and tight in the butt and thighs but too loose in the waist. I wanted the fit to be loose (like the pictures in the photos), but in order to have the looseness in the thighs they would have 100% fallen off my body. This tends to be my issue with shorts, so I wasn't surprised but was still disappointed. These could have worked with a belt, but I still don't like the tightness of the thighs. They would be really great on someone with narrower hips and legs because, like many PrAna things, seemed to be of great quality.

Bonus points to PrAna for their low waste packaging as well!

Fit: Runs large
Height: 5' 7"
Weight: 140 lbs
Size Purchased: Medium

Was really excited about these pants for climbing, but all of the reviews have mentioned that these pants run large and they are correct! I usually wear a medium in pants because I have pretty muscly thighs and a booty and I thought a medium might still work for me despite the review warnings, but I was drowning in these pants. The drawstring was great because I could have cinched them up in an emergency, but when you have to cinch them that much all the material bunches up and is pretty un-flattering.

Old Faithful
5 5

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've used this harness pretty heavily for over a year now. It was my second harness, but it's definitely old faithful. It has enough padding to keep you comfortable on short ascents (if you are going multi-pitch this might be a little bare). I use this a lot in the gym, but it's also been great for outdoors. I sized up because there is a lot of room to tighten all the straps and the extra space allows for lots of layers if you're climbing in colder temps.

I love this sweater and the customer service I got from Backcountry was fantastic. The sweater is definitely a little scratchy, but when I layer a light t-shirt under I don't notice at all. I love even more that it's made of a recycled wool/polyester/nylon fabric blend and a great choice for buying new. I purchased a medium and it's nice and loose in the body, a good torso length, but pretty short in the arms (the cuffs fell slightly short of my wrists, and I think my arms are normal length?). While I would probably like the way the small fits around my torso, I fear sizing down would shorten the arms even further. I've gotten a lot of compliments, I can dress it up or down, and I plan on wearing this and this alone all winter.

Update: after a wash and many wears this is much softer!
