5 5

Familiarity: I've used it several times
Fit: True to size
Height: 5' 4"
Weight: 105 lbs
Size Purchased: 41 might have gotten away with a 40.5 which would be my regular size.

These boots were comfortable right out of the box. I took a trip to Vermont and did a lot of hiking. I didn't have time to break in these boots and was a little nervous about that but I found that they were great from day one. They fit well. I got a half size larger than normal because I read they run small but I don't think they really run that small and in hind sight wish I would have gotten 2 sizes to compare. These turned out fine as I always change out the insoles to accommodate my picky feet. I have bunions and a Morton's neuroma and had zero problems from either. I really liked how responsive the lacing was for the fit. Looser lacing meant for very comfortable wear when not on the trail and snugged up just made the boot hug your foot. No heel slip whatsoever. Downhill or uphill, no slipping around in the boots. The are very light weight and provide excellent support. The stride is very natural and sole grippy on wet rocks. They were waterproof in wet rainy conditions and, unlike my last gortex boots, my socks were completely dry at the end of the hikes every time! I'm very happy with my purchase and without hesitation would recommend these for any trails of any length.

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Fit: Runs small

This is a great looking shoe. It does run small! I usually wear a 7 and ordered a 7.5. At first it felt perfect but found that after a couple of miles of hiking, my 4th and 5th toes started to feel a bit rubbed and cramped. I also had to wear a thin sock, not a hiking sock as I would have preferred. I kept them because for short hikes and just wearing around, they look and feel great. I also noticed that they lack in lateral support a bit as well. Of course, these are, after all approach shoes, and given that is their main point, they are well made for that. Nice sticky rubber, great grip, lacing such that you can loosen/tighten where needed. I have the multi-color red/orange/purple and get many complements. They are very comfortable to a point, but I have pretty fussy feet so I may not be the best judge of mileage. Actually, me getting 3-4 miles without having pain is a big deal. The break in period isn't bad. I did notice the tongue issue at first but with attention to lacing, that went away. I would have to say that overall, this is a great shoe. I now wish I would have ordered up a full size though I have never worn an 8 in my life, I think that would have solved the toe rub/thin sock issues.
