Familiarity: I've used it several times
Fit: Runs small

I get cold easily. After experiencing hypothermia last year, I resolved to find a pair of the warmest, driest ski pants available. The Norrona Roldal pant fits the bill with style! I own a pair of Norrona Narvik shell pants that I used for ski instructing and love their fit, style, and performance, so decided to try the Roldal insulated pant. In single digit temperatures with biting winds, I was comfortable with just a thin baselayer beneath. Skiing during a day of sleet and freezing rain, I was toasty and dry. The waist is lined with soft material and has great adjustability with well-placed, large velcro tabs. Zippers are sturdy and thigh vents are ample. Fit of my normal size L was a little snugger than I'm used to at the hips so I went with an XL and the fit looks identical to what's shown on the model on the product listing picture. Plenty of room to move in and add more layers if needed, but still looks stylish. The red color is more of an bright orangey-red, not a scarlet red, which suited me fine, since I paired them with a green Norrona jacket and was afraid of looking like a Christmas tree. Best-made ski pants out there, hands down. Afraid of spending the money on these? Once you've worn them, you'll be SO glad you did!

I've owned many technical ski jackets (Patagonia, Marmot, OR, Descente, etc) and the Norrona Lofoten is head and shoulders above them all. I first tested the jacket on a 2-degree F, windy day, with a windchill of -30 F. Underneath I wore a lightweight technical shirt and a cotton, nontechnical everyday turtleneck. I was warm and could NOT feel the 20 mph wind through the jacket. Fit in my normal size a little snug, especially beneath the arms and across the shoulders, so I went with an XL instead of my usual L. (I'm 5'10", 160 lbs with a slim upper body but wider shoulders from paddling and swimming). Arm length is longer than other jackets. The green color is bright and cheery, perfect for visibility when skiing, while still being stylish. Hood is the best helmet-compatible hood I've tried. Pockets, powder skirt, adjustability is second-to-none. It is WELL worth the money; a great investment in warmth and comfort and am looking forward to more skiing days in it this season!
