Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought two pair and used them on an Aoudad Hunt in 30-40 degree weather. We walked and climbed a fair amount and they struggled with wicking moisture out of a Gore-Tex Lowa Zephyr boot. It’s hard to keep dry in a boot that doesn’t breath well, so I’d say they did the best any sock could do. I highly recommend “Smartwool Hikeliner Crew Sock” as a liner. I have found these liners to either control the moisture better, or at least wick the moisture away from your skin. The liners make all the difference in the world in comfort. I love these socks and of all the smartwool socks I have (heavy pairs and light pairs) these are the best for moderate to strenuous activities in cold weather or for sitting still or light activity in mild (40-50 deg) weather. Get the liners to keep dry in any situation though. They do make a lot of difference!

These work well alone walking around my ranch house, which has concrete floors and is cold in the winter. I tried them alone with a goretex boot and wasn’t too impressed with moisture control but I think my expectations were set way too high. I don’t think any sock can do it all. I do really like them with smartwool hikeliner crew socks (thin smartwool liners). That seemed to make a huge difference in controlling moisture and feeling dry after long treks in cold weather. I’ll buy another pair, they are definitely worth the money. Love to sleep in them when it’s cold. Keeps my little piggies toasty!

I think I love these liners more than any of the merino wool socks I have bought! They seem to make the difference in moisture control. I don’t feel as sweaty with these liners as I do without. Every time I have worn them has been cold and I wind up sweating because of hiking hard through rough terrain. I bought two pair, but will need more. I’m not certain about durability yet. They seem thin, which is good, but not sure how long they will hold up. I have not tried them by themselves yet. Will wait for summer for that. I had very high expectations of these liners, they did not disappoint. Want more!

These are good every-day sock. Good for travel, they look nice, long flights when you want to take your shoes off on the plane, but not empty the plane because of your stinky feet. I had very high expectations from them and they barely met them. Possibly I had ridiculous expectations, so I still give them 5 stars! I’ll buy more, don’t think any sock could exceed them by much.

This is my 6th pair of these boots. It’s all I wear, unless I’m forced to dress up. Then I still wear them. Started wearing these in 2013 and was immediately impressed with the fit. They are a “stiff” boot, but stiff in a good way. Comfortable, extremely durable, I have put in 5 miles a day, off trail walking for a month, and they excelled. I have arthritis in my big toe because of an accident. I’m supposed to limit the bending of this toe, but I still need to climb steep canyon walls. These boots provide the stiffness I need to climb without further damaging the toe. The wrap around sole is a huge benefit to climbing and walking off trail. It’s a great boot.
