Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought this for my dad for his birthday, he's from Boston, and he loves sailing. He takes it on all of his sailing trips, it seems to hold up to hot days well and the ice lasts a long time, keeps your beer ice cold...as cold as Matt Ryan in Superbowl 51. My dad calls it "tha hoppa" because people from Massachusetts are weird.

Go Pats.

It packs down super small, it's super light, and it's super comfy. I took it backpacking, my friends made fun of me for bringing a chair, I was the one laughing in the end.

I also watched the second half of the Falcons/Patriots Superbowl sitting in this chair and we all know how that ended, so, I can't say for sure, but I will anyways, this chair won the Patriots the Superbowl.

It is a great chair that can be used in many different settings.

Are they as good as the original Lethal Weapon? NO, but I can't think of anything that is...except maybe a Childish Gambino album. What I'm trying to say is, these are the third best gloves in my life.

I wasn't much of a bike glover, in fact I was starting to think I was too old to bike anymore...Until I found the Giro Remedy X2 Gloves, I like that they fit snugly, they vent well, and the pads protect in all of the danger points.

They have proven to me, that I am indeed "[not] too old for this."

Update: After a season of not-so-frequent use the seams have started to come undone. They're still functional but they are coming a bit unraveled.

I work at Backcountry. Sometimes we get to go on work camping trips, you know, for team building, fun, and to try out new gear. My team went on one of those camping trips. I tried out some new gear. I tried out the Sea To Summit Comfort Plus Insulated Sleeping Pad. It was in a word, “rad.” But that’s not a work that I’m comfortable using so I’ll say, it worked like a dream. (they should put me on the marketing team).

But seriously, I sleep on my side and get cranky when camping because my hips don’t lie! In fact, they tell the truth and the truth hurts…I know the truth hurts because it wakes me up 100 times a night to remind me. That’s where the Comfort Plus comes in, it is lightweight, it is warm, and it keeps you completely off the ground and comfortable all night. That’s really all I have to say, it was the best sleep I’ve ever had camping. If Shakira is anything like me, she’d do well to get a Sea To Summit Comfort Plus Insulated Sleeping Pad.

Hey, are you tryna cook the heck out of some camping food? LOOK NO FURTHER, The MSR PocketRocket 2 Stove cooks the heck out of some food. It has variable cooking temperatures so you can really get that Gordon Ramsey effect in your meal. (have you ever watched that Youtube video where he cooks eggs? It changed my life.) You can cook in basically any weather condition thanks to the WindClip windshield...This one time I hiked up to this 12000 foot peak and made dinner, it was windier than a January Chicago morning, NO MATTER for the PocketRocket 2, the flame prevailed.

I am fond of this thing, it's light-weight, compact, and it works! Would recommend!

It was a cold winter out here in Utah; I bought new gloves, new socks and a new jacket. Then I got into ski touring and I had to buy new skins…a new pair of ski pants…and some AT bindings…But you get it, winter sports come with a lot of preparations, and those preparations don’t come cheap. That’s why I was pleased to find The North Face Warm Tights, a super warm, durable, breathable base layer at a price that can’t be beat. I’ve hiked a lot of big mountains in these tights, they keep me cool on the way up and warm on the way down and the anti-odor treatment keeps me smelling fresh at the bar. I’ve been warm all winter and I owe thanks, in large part to The North Face Warm Tights.

Are you looking for a headpiece with a tough outer shell, smooth breathability, and flawless adjustability? If you answered “yes” to any of those questions then STOP READING and get you a Smith Forefront Helmet. If you still have reservations, “ohhh I don’t know, my Bell helmet from the 80s works just fine.” Or “ohhh I don’t know if I can justify the cost.” Also STOP READING, cuz I’m mad at you…I’m sorry, I just get worked up about these things, but really, this is a great helmet, the Aerocore (refrigerator tech) technology keeps your head as cool as...I’m running out of ‘cool’ metaphors.

In the end, it’s an expensive helmet, but it’s a really good helmet. It looks good, it works well, and I recommend it.

Hey, are you tryna boil the heck out of some water? LOOK NO FURTHER, The Jetboil MiniMo Stove boils the heck out of some water. My grandma says ‘a watched pot never boils’ she’s clearly never watched a Jetboil boil water. It’ll boil water in just minutes, watch or don’t. And heck, if my grandma was wrong about that, what else could she be wrong about? Am I not the smartest, best looking, funniest kid in school? …No I definitely am all of those things, she just must not have known much about science.

The insulated drink lid allows you to drink straight from the cup, and the push button igniter saves the day if you’ve forgotten your lighter. It’s a nice thing, get one, or don’t, I’m not your grandma!

It was a warm day the day I first tried my Prana Stretch Zion shorts, you see, my thought process was “hey it’s a warm day, I’m going on a hike, I should wear some shorts.” My dad calls them ‘shots’ because he’s from Boston(go Pats), he also calls pizza ‘pitzzer’ and trash ‘rubbish’ so, who really knows what’s going on with that guy. Anyhow, I was in Moab with some friends, (see my reviews on shoes and other assorted articles) it was a warm day, I wore shorts, they fit well, they adjusted to my waist size well, the many assorted pockets accommodated my many assorted things well, everything went well, well, except for the rappel…but we’ll get into that at another time. For now I’ll just say the Prana Stretch Zion Shorts are, well, swell!

P.S. the 10" inseam is where it's at BOI!

This is my first yoga mat. Someone told me to try yoga. Yoga is pretty hard and I don't think I found inner peace...yet, but this mat definitely got me close. It is super soft/comfortable, it doesn't move, and is the perfect length. It's easy to clean if it's covered in dog hair.

Also a great dog bed.

This winter I got fat. It was Cheetos, Pabst Blue Ribbon, and Netflix that led the way but I followed them and now here we are. They’re like those friends you had in college that never really moved on and enabled you to do the same. This spring I said “NO MORE! I’m gonna exercise, I’m gonna go to law school, I’m gonna pick up piano at a late age…” well, maybe, at least some of those things.

I received the MEN'S COOL-LITE INCLINE WINDBREAKER as a gift, and I’ve used it pretty much every day since. It is a wonderful jacket for cycling; the back pocket is perfect for reaching snacks (healthy ones, not Cheetos), it breaks wind well, and keeps me cool on tough climbs. If it’s getting a little too warm, I can pack it into its own pocket for super compact storage. Also when I’m going really hard it has a reflective strip running down the front for a little extra visibility at night. It looks good enough to impress girls at the library while I study for the LSAT. And it’s quiet enough to wear at my piano lessons (I hate piano lessons).

I love this windbreaker and will continue to utilize its versatility.

I keep this in my cycling backpack, it takes up no space, it weighs nothing, and when I need something for added warmth, it's ready to rock!

It's as if it could disappear and reappear like some kind of Hungarian-American illusionist.

Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This is a super light helmet.
It is flexible.
The straps adjust nicely.
I like the magnetic chin latch.

It prevented small rocks falling from damaging my head.
The rocks scratched the helmet because it's made of a pretty soft foam exterior.

I think it's ugly but that's much more a personal opinion.

The new one coming out this summer is super dope!

Let me just tell you about my weekend,

It started early Friday morning; I moseyed into work at Backcountry around 8:01. It’s a casual work environment but you still want to look good, so the Evolv Cruzer Psyche Approach Shoes were the obvious choice for the day’s footwear. I fielded some emails and discussed my cool new shoes with some coworkers, and before you knew it, it was 12:00 PM. TIME TO GO TO MOAB. I gathered some gear, bought some beer and quicker than you could say “sent it” we were off for a weekend of fun in the sun.

We arrived in time for some light bouldering and with these shoes light bouldering was no problem at all, they fit snug, have super grip, and provide the comfort and stability you need for an easy day on the rocks.

On Saturday, we went for a 20 mile mountain bike ride- I again used my Evolv Cruzer Psyche Approach Shoes, they are some of the better mountain bike shoes I’ve used, they gripped the pedals extremely well and provided the stiff rigidity you need to stay on the bike.

Then we went out to dinner and drank some beers…same shoes, same outcome.

Sunday we set out for a short canyoneering trip, and in an effort not to sound like a broken record…They were perfect. Gripped the walls well helped me navigate through some of the more technical parts of the canyon, and provided good support for the repels.

These are good looking, comfortable, and highly functional.

I’m a big fan!

P.S. for a long hike, they're a bit stiff.

I used to live with a girl in Italy, I decided last summer that I would walk 500 miles...and possibly 500 more to go visit her. Fortunately they've invented airplanes which is nice because this bag is the perfect carry on size. I jammed it full of things that would make me look like a cool guy in Italy, and I looked so cool when I got there...cuz of how much stuff I can fit in this bag. The backpack straps made me look even cooler and I walked around all day as the coolest guy in Italy!

*Note- fully packed, the dimensions of this pack flirt with the limits of carry on status. I've never had a problem...but it is possible.*

I tried this out in a rain demo last fall at Backcountry HQ, it was a race of cunning and whit, while people sprayed you with hoses. Although I was beaten badly, when I took off the jacket, I was bone dry! Later that week, I went out and bought my own Black Diamond Liquid Point Shell Jacket and I am very happy with the results. I have used it at football games, skiing...and coming soon to this summer CLIMBING/HIKING!

Updates to come.
