Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Fit: True to size
I own plenty of North Face jackets, and love most of them. This jacket is no different. Its a perfectly warm, stylish winter coat that looks good enough to wear on almost any occasion.
Outer layer is Hyvent, which feels like the companies usual Hyvent offerings. The down insulation is on the interior, which does give the coat a slightly larger look when you are wearing it, but still manages to look somewhat slim. Very warm. Hood is insulated as well. The parka-length is nice. Lots of interior pockets, and the exterior hand-warming pockets are easy to access.
I am 5'10", 165 lbs, wear a 39 suit jacket, and the M fits very well. Love the olive color.
Only minor complaints, the hood does not provide the all-encompassing (think sleeping bag like) coverage that their technical jackets provide, but is good enough. No interior cuffs which would have been a nice touch.
